I'm looking for a good Hex editor for a friend, who wants to do hex editing, but, doesn't like using his PC.
What is the best Mac Hex editor, Preferably one that is free, and acts a lot like Windhex? ____________________ セシル |

Check MacUpdate.com, you will probably find what you are looking for...
I use HexEdit, which is probably not as good as many other Hex Editors out there in terms of spiffy functions, but it's enough for me... |

Posted by Trax I just looked through there (Thank you for the link BTW), and I found something called Hex-Fiend It is a 16 [0f in hex] based Hex editor (By default), instead of it showing 22 [16 in hex] like it showed in the pic. Thanks again! ____________________ セシル |

Doesn't Mac OS have access to Wine?
If so, why not run a Windows-based editor through it? |

Posted by blackhole89 What does ANYONE want to do with a hex editor? But yeah - HexEdit seems to be the most functional hex editor for OSX that I have found in my searches. Hasn't been updated in years now but it still works perfectly fine with Snow Leopard. I personally use XVI32 on the Windows side, so I'd say that it is rather similar except copying and pasting actually works without derping all the time. |

Absolutely the best Mac hex editor is 0xED.
If you don't like that, I can guarantee that WINE runs Translhextion, GoldFinger and XVI32. But really, 0xED is really good. You should try it. ____________________ oh |

Posted by XenesisPosted by blackhole89 I'm not following. Why WOULDN'T you want a hex editor? Don't most people edit games by editing the hex? Or do most people fully disassemble them to change one thing? ____________________ セシル |
