And I'm only 12 years late to the party.
So, what classic/famous/awesome games have been on your to-do list since release? I can't imagine I'm the only one who's done this before. For me, I'm still lookin to fully beat:

Majora's Mask
Legend of the Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon
Twilight Princess
and Golden Sun 2

Probably in close to that order too.

I beat Batman for NES on my real NES a few years (two years?) ago. It was the only NES game we had that we hadn't beaten over the years, so it felt good.

(Well ok I still have taht Knight Rider game laying around...)

I don't get the hype with FFVI. I actually played it for a few hours, before I got utterly bored and stopped playing without even returning to it.

It probably helps to have played it back in the day...before everyone was faulting it for a lackluster sandbox experience in its second half and the easily abusable gameplay systems.

Still, though...if you think FF6 is bad or unworthy of its praise, then don't even go near FF7 or FF8. They're far worse in every respect with even more raving, rabid fanbases.

On topic: way too many games to list, really. The only game I can think of at the moment, though, is Golden Sun: The Lost Age if only for the fact that I'm getting the third installment for Christmas and it'd be a shame to be out of the loop on the plot (such a rarity for RPGs to have continuity, you know).

It's mostly that roleplaying games have a syndrome of "If it's too hard, just level up some more!", and the other way around is annoying too. When you're so overlevelled that everything is a pushover.

I've never been able to get through FFIV without losing interest...

I haven't beaten OoT either... whenever we rented it back in the day, it always crashed rather near the beginning. I'm not sure what the problem was...

Also, basically anything on Playstation...

(for example, FFVII) Thanks to never having one of the PS family of consoles.

That's all the more reason to beat OoT. To be honest, it was depressing to start playing MM after finishing Ocarina of Time. That three day cap is killer..

My usual monitor won't work so I'm using an old one with a resolution that is not what I'm used to. Until I get a new one I've been working on Okami for my PS2. I still need to beat OoT too. I may do that after...

Still can't beat Megaman 9's final Wily boss, it's kind of a bummer that they decided to go with tradition and make you play all the castle bosses... not that I ever really had a problem with that, but the fortress bosses in 9 are kind of unfair... Also Megaman 10. I'm also playing Paper Mario, I gave up on Super Mario 64, I just don't like the game enough to finish, I just watched an LP of it. I also have Kirby 64, and I try to 100% every game I play if applicable... I can't find some of the shards so I haven't touched the game in a while... OOT, Majora's Mask... got lost in OOT, I wanted to beat OOT before MM, but still... I also haven't beaten Metroid Prime, Super Metroid (though partially since perfectionist, though I could just be saying that because I got lost ;-; ) I also haven't beaten a few other games... I am quite capable, I beat Mario the lost levels... I think I used infinite lives though... I might go back, I dunno the engine is kind of iffy.

Hmmm.... anything else worth mentioning?... Paper Mario Thousand Year Door is on my list after Paper Mario obviously... Super Mario RPG was being played but I've gotten side tracked by school mostly. I've never beaten a lot of games, but some just aren't that good to me... so why bother? I'll finish them all some day, I mean I spent money on Mario 64... oh I also haven't finished the original Legend of Zelda, or the NES and SNES games for those... It took me a while to finally sit down and 100% Super Mario World... but I did it eventually. Not like I hadn't beaten the game before.

Any more walls of text before I go? I think Super Mario Galaxy needs to be completed... Resident Evil 4... this list is getting way too long I better stop...

Right right, I somehow forgot Mario Galaxy on my to-do list. And Mario Galaxy 2.
As far as other ones that I finally finished, I completed A Link to the Past back around April sometime. That was quite an achievement at the time.
And I was going to finish Super Mario Sunshine back in August, but the save data glitched. So I started over. And it glitched again. So I figured I've seen enough of that one for now.

I'm not suggesting pirating. But if you own a copy of the game and can no longer play it due to damage to the Wii, I wouldn't consider it piracy anymore than I would consider downloading a CD rip of a CD you own but don't want to search for, piracy.
