Lessee...
-World Religions/Christian Lifestyles Took the first one last semester, and the latter currently. Let me elaborate, I go to a private Catholic highschool so a religious course is mandatory I would have opted for Community Service but these two seemed like they would be the least...boring. Surprisingly, Christian Lifestyles isn't all LOL FOLOW TEH BIBLE AND DONT BE A HOMO like I feared it would be. It's...actualy just a really simple course where we talk about means of interacting and communicating with people friendly and intimately. And my teacher is pretty much the nicest guy in the whole school. -Advanced Algebra (2) Alright, I was supposed to be in...was it calculus? Or precalc, I don't know. But due to my poor math grades Freshman year as a result of a horrible teacher who refused to offer assistance, my school has somehow come to the conclusion that I am incapable of anything besides the lower-level placements for math. The hell ;\ oh well. It goes at a good pace at least and I'm not exactly planning on doing anything with math anyways. I actualy think I could have been in the higher class, I've had straight A+ the year whereas the rest of the class is anywhere between F's and B's. So ;x -English IV Normally I really love English but my teacher is just so boring this year ;x plus the assignments we get are pretty redundant and ridiculous. Oh well, it's an easy grade if anything else. He's a good guy, just....boring ;x -Environmental Science Actauly a really interesting class. I have a really awesome teacher and I've learned quite a bit, which is odd for me in a science class as it usualy isn't my forte at all. Hm. If anything it's made me less ignorant to various environmental dilemas in the world today. I'm proud to say I've at least got THAT out of the class. -Java II/Desktop Publishing Another one semester long course for each. I ended up with the same teacher for both, which is cool. Java I did really well in and I enjoyed it quite a bit, even if we never really did anything particularly spectacular or really all that interesting for that matter. I guess the fun in it for me was seeing how I could make the crappy text book projecs better than they were supposed to be ;x Desktop Publishing is alright...Adobe InDesign and stuff. I doubt I will ever actualy use this program or these skills again but its not a bad class. -Jazz Ensemble (Advanced)/AP Music Theory Alright, well, I was ORIGINALY in AP Music Theory but due to "lack of interest" the frigging course got dropped after the first week. I'm serious. ;\ So I end up taking my remaining alternative, the "advanced" performance ensemble...basically where all his little favorites go, the only band that actualy DOES anything. Four years slaving over apiano for this guy, I'd say I earned it ;x my teacher here is an interesting one...to put it lightly. We all think he's on crack. No, I'm being serious, we really do. He's...I GUESS, not really that bad of a guy in person. Okay yeah he is ;x but the sad and ANNOYING thing is that he knows his stuff...he just can't teach it worth anything. And the lack of organization present withing our ensemble is reflective of this. Oh well. At least the collective talent of the people I'm fortunate enough to be able to play with more than makes up for his incompitence as a director. -Resource/Phys Ed. Resource is a free period. When I have it last period, I go home when they can't see me ;x When I have it first period, I bring in a sammich from Dunkin Donuts and take to the cafeteria. If I have it any other period, I either go in to a music practice room and mess with the piano, or find an empty classroom and take a nap. Whoever's room it ends up being usualy comes in and wakes me up eventualy and if they don't, general noise usualy does. Though I tend not to do this as often as I like to take the time to complete homework and other stuff as well. But yeah ;x Oh and phys ed. sucks. I've skipped it like half this quarter and am still passing. I'm not physical or athletic in the least. My muscles are all inherited, its the only thing that makes sense to me. So yeah, I more or less dread this class simply on the ground that it is in no way enjoyable for me. My PE teacher is an alright guy. The guy I had last year looked like Donkey Kong. I wish I was exaggerating. |

- Math 120 - Fund. of College Math
Worst teacher ever. Changed to Audit since missing three days is an instant fail and (suprise) I missed the first three days. Ha ha no. - Introduction to Programming Class was canceled so I had to do it online. Switched to audit due to stupidity in teacher and buggy WebCT. - Psychology 101 Dr. SOLOMON IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER - Networking Plus! Boring and mostly a "relax and drink Mt. Dew" class. ____________________ I dealt with it. |

I go to school at 0700 every day and start class at 0730. First class is English 11.
Not so bad, but I don't do homework and this class is a homework heavy class. It's ok. I just sleep/play Tetris DS under the desk in this class. Then, 0908 comes and its next class. Film Studies. Wouldn't be that bad if the teacher didn't yap her British fucking mouth off every god damn minute of the movie. "Look an establishing shot! Look a HIGH angle! *Insert something that she THINKS means something in the movie, but is completely fucking wrong in every aspect*" Yes. And she expects us to jot down every silly camera angle/shot and costumes and other shit like it's Pokémon, except it's not just walk into grass to get them, you gotta weed through a deathtrap of her mouth. It's ok though. I normally just play Tetris DS during this time. 1035 come and I want to go home. *Bonked* Ok, that wasn't funny. Next up is Lunch until 1100 when I go to the main office, sign out and get on the bus to a collaborative technical school thingy. 20 minutes later I get there and I go right to Cisco Certified Networking Academy (CCNA), a college course being taken in Eleventh grade. Sweettastic, since it's easy and doesn't require much skill, and alot of days, it's just "Do this test, read a little and do whatever else." My friend brought in his modified Xbox gamepad for PC and played Cave Story fullscreen, while my other friend played Bubble Bobble as I played Tetris DS/Mario Kart DS via the wireless router across the room. This does not include the two 4th semester kids in the back playing YSFlight networked, a flight simulator that is more air combat then simulation. Life is good. Anyways, 1415 come and it's time to leave. Get on the bus for another 20+ minute ride and I'm home What a sexcellent schedule, eh? ____________________ I miss post headers more. |

Posted by SamuraiXOr, you know you've got a great math teacher when she realizes that calculus is physics so she makes sure to relate the two. Basically, Physics is Calculus except that in calculus you don't need to know that it relates to something real. Posted by SamuraiXActually, I'd say that's pretty standard for most of the engineers I know. I don't really enjoy math classes (I know, totally backwards for an engineer, I'm good at it but that doesn't mean I like it. I do enjoy applied science aka engineering) and Linear and Diffentials were the only two maths I've taken that I actually had to really study for. Differentials was at least a usefull skill set to know, linear was way to abstract for the applications I'm doing. And if you want to see even more engineering, here's my senior schedule. 1. Senior Design (hopefully working on an EV race car or something) Both Semesters 2. Private Study (i.e. one teacher, less than five students, subject of choice) - Advanced Hybrid and Electric Motor Design Both Semesters 3. Communication Systems 4. Probability and Statistics 5. Semiconductor Design and Fabrication 6. Digital Signal Processing 7. Control Systems 8. Not sure about this last course, maybe I'll end my senior year with only 4 classes, maybe I'll take a mechanics course, not sure yet. I'll probably take mechanics though so I can go to Grad School and get an MSME to go along with my BSEE. |

Hmm...
First Year University Subjects: Chemistry IA/IB Difficulty: 3/5 My Rating: 4/5 Grade: 78/76 (Distinction) Twas fun. Beat the pants off HSC Chemistry. ; Japanese ISA Difficulty: 2/5 My Rating: 1/5 Grade: 75 (Distinction) This was a borefest. I dropped it quickly. Physics for the Life and Earth Sciences IA/IB Difficulty: 4/5 My Rating: 3/5 Grade: Distinction/Credit Good fun. Not the highest level of physics I could have done first year, but I was never that brilliant at it, so I took the intermediate course. Geology: Earth's Environment Difficulty: 3/5 My Rating: 3/5 Grade: Credit I enjoyed it, apart from the soils section which was rather dull. It wasn't overly difficult or demanding, but good for a first year subject to replace my dropped Japanese in second semester. Biology MGC A Difficulty: 3/5 My Rating: 3/5 Grade: Credit Yay. First Semester biology. Was decent, nothing special. Biology of Organisms Difficulty: 3/5 My Rating: 0/5 Grade: N/A - Withdrew before required date This course sucked arse. I withdrew from it before I permanently hated myself. I actually managed to fall asleep in a few lectures. That never happens. Ever. Biology: Human Perspectives Difficulty: 3/5 My Rating: 3/5 Grade: Credit I took up the other biology Semester 2 course. Was much more fun. Second Year Subjects: Chemistry IIA Difficulty: 4/5 My Rating: 2/5 Grade: Credit First semester chem. I found it really hard because it was mostly physicsy physical chemistry. Which I'm not very good at. ; Chemistry IIB Difficulty: 4/5 My Rating: 5/5 Grade: Distinction Blah, I missed out on a High Distinction by 2% ; On the other hand it was almost all organic chemistry and I absolutely loved it, despite it being hard. Genetics IIA Difficulty: 3/5 My Rating: 4/5 Grade: Credit 2% off a distinction for this as well. ; But this course was a lot of fun. <3 genetics. Biochemistry IIA Currently doing this...seems okay, but I liked genetics better. |

Since everyone else seems to be doing this by class, let's look at my schedule point-by-point, starting with most favourite.
AP Economics: Macro Difficulty: 1/5 Rating: 5/5 Awesome in all ways. Thought provoking and I really liked the projects, albeit I always ended up doing all the work for group projects. AP Physics B (C) Difficulty: 2/5 (4/5) Rating: 5/5 (5/5) Physics B alone I found a lot harder than C, because it was phrased in a manner more like a biology/chemistry class. Yes, I find the "easier" course harder than the "hard" course. My physics teacher goes above and beyond the normal pace and material, but since I won't get the chance to take his C class, and he gave me a physics book that I can really relate to, I decided to study independently for the C test. Not to say that I don't like chemistry, because I thought the advanced class was a lot of fun. The normal chemistry class sucked though. When I started to do C, it seemed a lot more like what I think it is: applied mathematics, which made a lot more sense to me. And I really do like the Halliday/Resnick physics book, as it explains concepts clearly but thoroughly. AP Japanese Language Difficulty: 5/5 Rating: 4/5 It's not as though the actual class is that bad, but that there is this gap that is so massive, that of one who can speak fluently and us struggling to piece together the language. The fact that only 3 other people in the class are actually students and that most everyone else goofs off is a tad bothering. Orchestra Difficulty: 1/5 Rating: 4/5 Fun, the teacher is interesting, but the music is too easy and the level of the orchestra is too low. AP Calculus AB (BC) Difficulty: 1/5 (3/5) Rating: 3/5 (4/5) Taking this class after 10AM, I realize that AB is easy as hell. I look back at last year, and think that it must have been pretty bad for me not to understand it then. The lack of depth and the limited--no pun intended--scope of the class seems so blatantly visible to me that I wonder how I could have been so stupid. Ironically, most of the BC material that isn't overlap is mostly physics concepts and application. Which is pretty intuitive on the most part, at such a basic level. AP English Literature Difficulty: Variable Rating 3/5 On the bright side, the teacher isn't that boring and it's in the afternoon. Sadly, the class is boring and would rather talk about their consumerism/fucking/drugs or any combination of the three. |
