What classes at school do you like, what do you hate, etc.
I like computer programming. A lot. So I can enjoy a computer programming class even if the teacher really sucks (which most CS teachers I have do). In high school, I spent a whole semester learning PHP and working on a project, and the teacher knew nothing about PHP! I also generally like math classes, because I'm pretty good at math, but really bad teachers can ruin them if I can't learn anything. Science classes I'm kinda neutral toward. I'm interested in science, but I find it harder than just math, not by much though. I'm not too fond of really weird labs though as I have no idea what to expect (and I hate anything involving live arthropods, or microscopes). Most labs are kinda fun but I'm always scared I'll screw something up. English and social studies were always my worst enemy. Don't get me wrong, I've had some GREAT classes of each when the teacher is enthusiastic, a good lecturer, and not a really tough grader or too demanding. But on the other hand, these classes are very teacher-dependent and each teacher wants something different. I had one that cared almost exclusively about grammar. We would write fiction (which is where I got my interest in it) but we'd have to do something silly with it, like underline all the prepositions, and at least half the grade was based on that. And some of them are really demanding, like one who expected us to read about 100 pages of Plato in two days with no background whatsoever, using a translation that's so unintelligible that it was probably translated from Greek to Russian to Swahili to Esperanto to Martian to English and back again six times, with a teacher whose accent is so unintelligible that he might as well have been speaking Martian (and probably was). |

My favourite subject is probably either Culinary or German. Sprechen sie Deutsch?
My least favourite subject, on the other hand, is probably Trigonometry. My teacher, Mr. Walsh, is a total asshole. Me and my friend Heather don't seem to like him that much because of his assholeish behaviour. I'm generally neutral towards pretty much everything else, including Physical Science and Geography. My current schedule: 1) Woodshop (A)/Culinary (B) 2) Geography 3) Trigonometry 4) English III 5) Phys-Ed (A)/Music (B) 6a) Lunch 6b) Study Hall 7) Chemistry 8) German |

At the top of my list are Math, Comp Sci, and History, in that order. I'm interested in math, and I do pretty well, Comp Sci is enjoyable, as long as we actually get onto the computers. We have this really annoying teacher who always repeats crap over and over and over again, and when the one kid in the class who never gets it asks his question, instead of letting the rest of us get going, she keeps us all waiting for her to repeat the lesson yet another time. So annoying. [/rant] History I find slightly interesting, and I always seem to get good teachers in it, so I like it.
I'm usually fine with Science, I find it about as interesting as I find History, but this year, I have it first, so that means I'm half-asleep throughout the entire period. I'm still passing with an A though, which is much better than most of the class despite the fact that half of them are older than I am. I'm not sure if this means I'm very intelligent or they aren't. As for my most hated classes, either Spanish or English. From day one, I regretted not switching to another language when I had the chance. Bleah. As far as English goes, I just hate writing, it's not like I'm bad at it, I just don't like to, and our teacher is kinda crazy. She has us read and take notes for a month, and then throws a month and a half of non-stop essays at us. I had 2 essays due the same day once, with only a weekend to do them. Our teacher is actually a pretty nice person, she's just not enjoyable to have as a teacher. ____________________ There are things I want to put here. Like a cool picture, my 8-bit theatre character test result, my MS and RO characters... But it's 12 AM, and I'm sleepy. |

My classes are:
English IV Teacher Aid AP Environmental Science Ceramics Economics English is a class that I usually enjoy. I love to read, and essays/literature has never been a challenge for me. The fact that I have this class from 6:30am-7:40am every morning, however, makes me kind of dread it. I loooooove my teacher aid class. The teacher that I help out is awesome, I love hanging out in there. <3 Environmental science, I find this class fascinating. I'm kind of a tree-hugger (in the non-dramatic, peaceful way), so learning about how badly we're treating the environment is right up my alley. Plus, the teacher is awesome. Ceramics? Yeah, I just needed a year of art credit. Economics is a lot of fun. I find the class really interesting, and the system of homework/tests/points is extremely extremely easy. Ahhh, the ease of second semester senior year. |

All I'm gonna say here is:
If you have a collegiate level greek mythology course, by all means, get stoned before going. It's the only class I would ever advocate taking in such a state, but oh wow, you'll think that's how the class was meant to be taken. That aside, don't do drugs. They interfere with learning. Edit: Classes like woodshop are NOT useless. Just because a class doesn't take you one step further toward accumulating college credits for your degree, does not mean that they are not worth taking. Personal fulfillment and (in some cases) practicality come before degree material, if you have such a desire. |

I really like math. It is the subject I do best on.
My worst subject, however, is English. I hate reading even if I have have to do major projects on it. I'm amazed I'm passing that class. ____________________ If you read this, then you must really be bored. |

I second that, taking classes like woodshop, auto shop, cullinary, et al are great courses to take and I really regret not having taken auto shop when I was in school. They teach you tangible things that you'll always be able to use.
Anyways, to the subject at hand, most enjoyable to least enjoyable (of all the courses I've taken) 1. Electric and Hybrid Vehicles ~ Basically exactly what I want to be doing for my career. 2. Electric Machines and Power Systems ~ Learning about how power is generated, transported and delivered to homes, as well as engines for my hybrids. 3. Philosophy - Economic, Racial and Sexual Inequalities ~ I love discussing issues and I don't get to much time to do so with my technical courses. 4. 17th Century British Civil War History ~ One of the most entertaining teachers ever, a born and raised Londoner. 5. Advanced Electromagnetism ~ Quite possibly the smartest person I'll ever meet. The degree to which he understood, as well as was able to impart his knowledge of electromagnetism was astounding. He recently gave a presentation defending a paper he wrote overturning a 15 year old theory therefore overturning 15 years of theoretical papers. 6. Modern Physics ~ Entertaining stuff, not to heavy on the math but conceptually intensive. 7. Theology - Why God Became Human ~ Really made me question my faith but I ended up stronger and better because of it. 8. Advanced Electronic Design ~ Learning how to do all sorts of amplifications and filtering, hopefully I'll start making my own stuff after a summer designing and fabricating controlers and audio systems for cars. 9. Economics Seminar - Global Issues / 3rd World Development ~ Similar to the previous Philosophy but on a much larger scale. 10. Advanced Signals and Systems ~ Theory behind filtering and DSP, interesting to know but probably won't use it too much. 11. Intro to Electronic Design ~ Good foundatoin required for anyone who wants to be a EE 12. Advanced Circuit Design ~ Another required course for EEs 13. Intro to Electrical Engineering ~ Obviously a required course. 14. Intro to Philosophy ~ Discussions on how to prove the existance of God, one's self, and the world. Quite a mental excersize. 15. British Culture, Music and Theatre ~ Basically watched TV, went to shows and concerts, great time. 16. Physics - Mechanics ~ I enjoy physics and it comes prettyeasy to me. 17. Physics - E/M ~ Same as above. 18. C/C++ Programming ~ Boring class, very very basic programming (I lost interest in programming after High School). 19. Intro to Engineering - Electrical and Mechanical ~ Helped me decide on EE. 20. Intro to Engineering - Chemical, Civil and Computer Sciences ~ Helped me decide against CSE. 21. Intro to Signals and Systems ~ Poorly taught course, didn't really learn anything. 22. Logic / Intro to Computer Architecture ~ Definitely not a fan of computer logic theory or architecture. 23. Intro to Bio-Chemistry ~ Required course, some interesting things but not my particular field of choice. 24. Writing Seminar ~ Writing's not my thing, another required course. 25. Intro to Christian Theology ~ Boring class, easy A though. 26. Intro to Chemistry ~ Dislike chemistry with a passion. 27. Single Variable Calculus ~ Math, blech, at least I can walk through it without thinking because it's essentially physics. 28. Multi-Variable Calculus ~ Same as above. 29. Differential Equations ~ Slightly easier than Linear Algebra, but definitely a hard course. 30. Linear Algebra ~ Quite possibly the most abstract course I've ever taken, suffice it to say, I got hammered by it. |

Let's see... The courses I've got left are...
Mathematics E Mostly complex numbers and differential equations. Pretty boring, except when I learn new things. I learn what the teacher says when he introduces something new, does nothing for a week or two, learns what the teacher says when he introduces something new, does nothing for a week or two, etc. I'm very interested in math, but the lessons are extremely boring. Expected grades: VG/MVG Physics B Linear movement, momentum, springs, waves, light, magnetism, nuclear physics, E=(Mc^2)/(a-v/c)^0.5, etc. etc. etc. The longest course I've taken so far (about 150 hours). The final test (four hours long) is tomorrow, Friday. Expected grades: VG/MVG Web Design The first half of the course was about Photoshop, which was pretty interesting. The other half is about HTML, PHP, JavaScript, Flash and such things... My website was pretty much finished halfway through the Photoshop part of the course, so I haven't really had anything to do during the rest of the lessons. Expected grades: MVG English C Yawn, Yawn, Yawn. I have a great teacher, but the lessons are Yawn, Yawn, Yawn. Expected grades: MVG Religion A Slightly more interesting than I expected, especially since I found out that I had a chance to get a VG in the course. Expected grades: G/VG History A Oh my GOD! This is the most boring thing of all! I have no interest in history whatsoever, nor the ability to memorize anything about it. Expected grades: IG/G Swedish grade system: IG: U TOTALLY FAIL G: Okay, you've been accepted VG: Wow, you're pretty good! MVG: OMG U PWN ALL OTHERS OMGOMGOMG ____________________ |

One knows that something is wrong when one is learning more calculus in physics than in calculus. My physics teacher is awesome since he wrote his own text and problem books. And no pesky homework. But most of all, because his lectures are awesome. |

This session I am taking Advanced (3rd Year) Spanish. It's kinda bad, I do very well in all the grammar sections and the cultural quizzes and so forth, but I can't speak the language with any degree of confidence and I acn only follow about half of the conversations. I'm going to Zaragoza for a year in September, I just hope I don't find it too overwhelming.
Also, I am taking a rather interesting International Political Economy class which is still in its "laying the theoretical groundwork" stage. Meh. My most interesting class is called 'Evidence and Interpretation: Controversies in European History' and it's a pre-honours historiography thing. I'm seriously considering going down the history/academia path, doing post-grad and such. Even on its own merits, the debates about the nature of history, the philosophy and methods behind it, etc, is very very interesting, even if it's frustrating how much some students seem confused and scared by the extent to which subjectivity reigns and there are no final answers. Finally, I'm taking a rather wanky History and Philosophy Of Science Faculty class about development and the third world. It takes a pretty interesting long-sweep view of human society and its development, but it gets less interesting the closer we get to the present day and the more the lecturer's political beliefs get in the way of coherent theoretical ideas and analysis. It's not that I don't agree that the world's seriously fucked and its economic system is terribly unjust, but I'm there to learn how to understand it better and so far it's been maddeningly obscure. Oh, and probably my favourite class from my time at UNSW has been a small Spanish History (1800-present) class which was all seminar and discussions. Great group of students, really enthusiastic lecturer, and a genuinely fun role-playing debate about the Civil War (I was the Fascist!) which was easily the best mid-semester assessment task ever. |

I'm only going to list university courses here. I'm hungover and lazy.
Also, the names of the classes might sound dumb, because I translated some of them from Norwegian. 1. Differential Equations - Differential Equations are kind of neat, once you understand how they work. When I first encountered these, I hated them. 2. Math user course - Pretty simple, and presented in a good way. 3. Linear Algebra - I should be able to get a good grasp on this one... 4. Examen Philosphicum (An intro to philosophy, or something like that. It was alright, but not particularly interesting..) 5. Basic course in Mathematics II - This one is difficult sometimes, and easy other times. I fail to prove that g(f(x)) is an uniform continuous function when g(x) and f(x) are uniform continuous functions. 6. Math and Nature Science - My god, what an awful course. The things the course took up weren't all that difficult, but the way they were presented to us was just totally backwards. Many negative points there. This is also were I first encountered DE's... (See point 1) ____________________ Damage done. |

Suprisingly, I'm doing really good in Algebra. Who'd have thought?
History is a major bore, like most think. How come I always get wailed with work? I'm dieing in English though. "Me fail English? That unpossible!" Now, before I keep talking... I have Algebra now. |
