I never understood the appeal of foobar2000 myself. As for a music player that does the right way, I use Audacious (note I mainly use it in the Winamp 2 style, not the newer GTK UI displayed there) |

Just looked at the screenshots. That is just like Foobar. I approve. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

Less commonplace formats don't always need to exist in the first place...
Actually, less commonplace formats are usually more a plague than anything... Can you provide with some examples of these special audio formats that are not recognized to their fair value? |

Posted by blackhole89 Considering I've never seen much point in creating playlists, or keeping a music player open all the time, that part is moot to me. I'm usually in the mindset of "I feel like playing album X", and selecting a folder in the file chooser suits that just fine. Speaking of which, what's wrong with GTK's file chooser? btw, it seems that Audacious' new UI is very much like foobar2000, you'd probably like it. It still keeps the option for the Winamp style UI which I prefer :-) |

/data/music/unsorted, obviously. In fact I just tried it to confirm, works fine.
If that's your only example it's pretty weak. |

So if I understand correctly, there were no decent player that could play SPC files (among other formats) before the apparition of Dead Beef? Is that right? |

If it takes 'that long' to get a directory list, you've either got way, way too many files in there (1k-10k+), or the server is too slow to give you continuous playback anyway.
--- I have some music that could go in multiple folders/categories, so sorting them via filesystem alone isn't going to be enough; thus, playlists. ____________________ |

I did stick with Winamp during all these years due to what I'm used to, although I'm open for open source alternatives. Moving to Foobar seems silly as that would be moving from one proprietary alternative to another. :/ I'm not the kind of user who makes playlists as I been oddly content choosing the file I want to play rather than using playlists. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Are there any comprehensive documentation about those SPC files data structure? |
