Not that it's important anymore, because like every other holiday that was supposed to have meaning, it ceases to have such. I dunno I still find myself wondering why we celebrate the harvest festival and try to pass it off as a thank you to Indians. Seems kind of like a slap in the face. Not that they care now though of course.
