Okay, you know the Board2 uploader where most of us upload their fraxy creations and hacks and stuff? Well I have been experiencing problems with it.

There are some files I'd like to remove off there. However, I try clicking on the X button to delete it, but when I do, the file does not delete and I get an error message from the uploader that reads "FILE DELETION IS TEMPORARILY DISABLED." What the heck is going on, can someone please fix this?

For now, just don't care, maybe someone will care once the server's HDD is full

I guess deletion has been disabled as a prevention measure against some kind of attack, not sure tho, I don't really see how abusing file deletion could affect anything aside from using the HDD more?

That looks like a totally self-explanatory error message there.

Right, it is, but we'd like to know why deletion is disabled. Not like I care since I don't intend to delete a file soon, but the OP cares for sure.

I have vague recollections of disabling it due to files randomly being deleted without anybody claiming responsibility for having done it or any obvious traces of it happening in the logs.

Would that mean that they're not being deleted by someone abusing the delete command? In this case, disabling it will not help... or am I wrong?

Time to track the File Deleting Ghost! Let's install special logging on the uploader.

Just add file deletions to the log table from now on, then.

Actually, deletions already are somewhat preserving in nature. The only reason the feature is blocked is that metadata gets lost and I am too damn lazy to fix it.
