I can't remember if it was Pokemon Red/Blue or SMRPG. I tend to think it was the former because when I was a kid it was all the rage and I had to have it...

Pokemon Yellow special pikachu edition. On my beloved lime green gameboy color.

if hurr dats a pogeymans game it dosnt count then Paper Mario.
I had no concept of what RPG was at the time so I thought it was just "that cool game with the badges"

If we're including pokemon, then probably silver or gold, I think it was gold, but, my memory isn't always the best. If no pokemon, then I can't even think of it, probably something on the GBA though at that point, maybe n64 or PS1, can't really remember the order I played games in.

EDIT:Actually, if memory serves gold was the first I completed red/blue was the first I played...or something on the NES.... I really don't remember....

Pokémon Blue on my cousin's gameboy. Excluding Pokémon, it was either SMRPG or Golden Sun. I have fond memories of staying up way too late, emulating Golden Sun on a machine that barely met the requirements, looping my favorite CD in the player until the wee hours of the morning...

Soul Blazer (SNES) I still love that game It's an action RPG though so if everyones talking normal RPG then ima gonna say the same as Mineyl - Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.

For menu-driven ("normal") RPGs, I reckon it was Lufia 2.

I still remember buying the cartridge off the older brother of a friend for 5 DM (~$2.50).

Fly to the coins
The MAYBE first one I had was Pokémon Gold... Although I am not sure if that counts, because the other one was Paper Mario for the Nintendo 64, and I am honestly not sure which came first.

A wonderfully fun experience with both, though, but Paper Mario has the prestige of being my absolute favorite video game.

As for a more classic-style one, EarthBound on SNES.

I have slightly different tastes, really. I always went for the funny, quirky ones that stood out more.

My first RPG was Pokemon Blue then I bugged my dad to get me Red and Yellow when it came out. Then I found the Final Fantasy series.

For me, I'm not too sure... It was either Pokemon Blue, or Final Fantasy Legends II. I don't remember.
