This is just a simple thread for new comers to ask questions about the board =]
My question is, "Is it a bad thing to post a lot here?" I noticed that I'm the most active user here in the last 1 day lol.. I don't want to get a lecture or banned for it =/ Also, what's the purpose of the equipment you can buy in the shop? ____________________ Time heals all wounds.. but so does a couple pain killers, anti-depressants, and some hard core metal. |

It's not a bad thing to post a lot, in fact it is strongly encouraged, careful of bumps and the like though.
The purpose of the equipment is none as it stands now, except I think xkeepers goggles block all post layouts. Their was going to be an arena of sorts where board members could do battle, but it is defunct and not working. One more thing, get rid of your plain text header, I'm surprised no one has done anything about it yet, but it is not allowed, the header is for your layout. If you want you can have a plaintext footer. |

Actually, the item that blocks post layouts is the Jedi training helmet. Xkeeper's goggles cause HTML comments in posts to be visible.
Posting a lot is a good thing as long as it is within the rules. |

I know it means replying something useless to get exp or something, but i heard one guy say something like 'Hey sry for the bump, i was just wondering if....' But his question was completely on topic... I noticed in the rules it said not to post in old topics unless you have something important to say... but I write in those occasionally when it's something interesting.. A bump is when you reply to an old topic thus "bumping" it up to the top of that forums listings. It's not always that big of a deal, but don't do it unless you need to. |

I'll give you my point of view, idk if it's the exact right one but it should be right.
Bumping an old thread should be done only if you are going to contribute to the thread's topic in a significant way; otherwise chances are that it will be considered spam. Also don't bump old threads to ask your question; that unless said thread is a questions thread (aka a thread that is meant to receive everyone's questions). I think what he's asking is how to distinguish whether a post in a thread would be a bump.
Here is a simple guide to avoiding bumping: 1. Look at the time stamp of the newest post in the thread 2. Look at today's date 3. If more than two months have passed since the last post [goto IF statement] IF you have something insightful to add to the thread that hasn't already been said THEN Post, bringing the thread back into discussion ELSEIF You don't have anything to add THEN Don't post for the sake of everyone's sanity, as well as your own safety. END IF EDIT: Thanks Nikolaj, I forgot about the end statement. |

Alright well thanks everyone for the help, it answered my question, I'll try to be more careful from now on.. I'm surprised I didn't get in trouble; my first few days on the board I was replying to topics over a year old... >,<
EDIT: oh and one more thing, does anyone know what determines your rank? Rank is determined by post count only, but level is determined by EXP, which in turn is determined by both post count and time since registration. |

lol sorry another question. I applied a patch to a fresh rom i dled, and somehow, it mixed data from the new hack, with one of my old hacks.. how did that happen, and how can i prevent it? it actually turned into something pretty cool though, so i'm not complaining EDIT: I used lunar magic to apply a hack to smrpg. ____________________ Time heals all wounds.. but so does a couple pain killers, anti-depressants, and some hard core metal. |
