Anyone make a hack where friends can control other party members (with a 2nd controller)?

I highly doubt that this would be possible, especially for this type of game. Even if it was done, it would have minimal content to be done in Co-Op. There just doesn't seem like a really strong feature that could be implemented into this game. I think hackers should spend more time on finding other types of ASM that can be used to make it a better single player experience.

I know my friend and I would love it. I remember FF6 had an option to do it, was actually pretty cool to enjoy the single player together.

I don't think it would be too hard to hack into there, seems like they could just set mario to first player and the other two characters in the party to 2nd player (just battles obviously).

Oh wow! Final Fantasy 6 is by far my favorite Final Fantasy, and I never knew about that. I'll have to go check that out.

And if you are only referring to in-battle, yes, a multiplayer would probably work. Just not outside of battles on the overworld.

Let's see what gian has to say with this.

This setup really requires a system overhaul.

You think it would really take a system overall? Seems like all you could just change the input of commands in battle for 2 of the characters to controller 2. I am really not sure though.

Yes, I am certain that it needs an assembly hack to pull the trick. The ROM does not contain an instruction that permits controller 2 to access the registers. You have to create one to make this possible.
