Hehe, this makes me laugh. Cecil's sprite during battle on the SNES looks really cool, but I haven't played it on DS. CG Cecil looks cool, too, minus the two BIG zippers on his chest. Ugh, this topic confuses me so I can't vote.  |

Since I can't vote on the poll I created, I'll give my input: My input is: Though the DS Armour DOES look "Bad ass" it seems to be more along the lines of all the other "Power ranger" type of armours, where as the Super Famicom one has a better look to it. Arguably the DS armour looks like it would protect a little more, but, the spikes would be very easy to destroy too, and most armourers wouldn't make a design like that on real armour. I like the SNES armour better. Sou if I could vote, that's where my vote would lie. And, what do you mean by evidence? As in screen shots, or as in an argument in both favours? Posted by Ice Penguin Basically I'm getting at, if you had Cecil's armour for the SNES, and DS in real life, which do you think would look better? Also I found that the DS version fucked up his armour design sou badly, I have to discount it as a fake armour. ____________________ セシル |

I prefer the SNES version, myself. The CG version on the DS is a bit too reminiscent of the dark knight artifact armor from Final Fantasy 11 which frequently got inward chuckles from me because its utility was questionable at best (not to mention these players were typically idiots back in the day). ____________________ Back from the beyond. |

I voted DS for many reasons. I never really liked that Dark Knight Cecil in this game. Im a HUGE FAN of the Paladin. Therefore, i welcome the new look and new design of Cecil's armor and look.

Paladin Cecil was obnoxious IMHO. I liked the idea of a change, but, into a useless paladin that drops almost all of his level and becomes a weakling that never quite gets back to normal,,,, that always irritated me. ____________________ セシル |

If you've only played the official English version of FF4 (you know, "Final Fantasy II"), then the change only makes him MORE useful because dark knight Cecil is basically Kain without jump and slightly beefier stats. I can kinda' see the argument if you've played any iteration where he has his special commands in dark knight form, but this still doesn't change the fact that dark knight Cecil hits for paltry damage against undead foes, can't cover allies, can't use his MP topping out your party's health between fights, and (we assume) can't equip elemental weaponry to further his effectiveness against enemies with weaknesses. It's probably also worth noting that only two enemies in the entire game are weak against the darkness damage found on dark knight Cecil's swords (Octomamm and Mom Bomb), so he's not winning any awards in that department, either. ____________________ Back from the beyond. |
