An unknown quantum state j i can be disassembled into, then later reconstructed
from, purely classical information and purely nonclassical EPR correlations. To do so the sender, \Alice," and the receiver, \Bob," must prearrange the sharing of an EPR- correlated pair of particles. Alice makes a joint measurement on her EPR particle and the unknown quantum system, and sends Bob the classical result of this measurement. Knowing this, Bob can convert the state of his EPR particle into an exact replica of the unknown state j i which Alice destroyed. That was copy-pasted from an eight-page paper I didn't read all of yet. Can it really be feasibly done? I have my doubts... In any case, I'll go read the paper |

Perhaps you should link us to it?
Also, it looks like the copy/paste didn't translate well (\Alice"?). ____________________ |

Good point... it is...here I threw it on the uploader. I didn't quite have a chance to fully read it yet, so I probably shouln't have even said anything, but it's for the sake of SCIENCE! |

I had some thinking about teleportation once. Found out two possible methods of doing it.
1. Converting matter into data, sending it through wires, and at the other side, convert it back into matter. However, how would you convert atoms into electric impulsions? 2. Break the matter into atoms, send it to the other side via some pipe or whatever, and assemble it back at the other side. But there are problems. First, it must be made sure that matter is reassembled right at the other side. Otherwise, you can still use your teleporter to turn fruit into a smoothie, but you can just use a blender for that, as it's easier and less expensive. Next, if you choose the first method, the teleporting network must be made secure. Or you'd have hackers send bombs or other shit at places. ____________________ Kafuka -- ROM hacking Kuribo64 -- we hack shit |

I think it is possible. The problem to this is how to reassemble the atoms back into the way it should be. Also, there must be a way to reconfigure the quarks, as I believe this would most likely change as well.
Reality is actually similar to a computer's virtual reality, only that reality if far more complex. Just an awkward guess anyway. ____________________ SUPER MARIO RPG EXPANSION MY PERSONAL BLOG Got any SMRPG Hacking related question? astralgamma.nursing-resource.com |

Posted by KawaPosted by al2fenrirVery, VERY much more so. But philosophically, I'd say you're basically right. Yeah, I got that philosophy after spending some time reading quantum mechanics. Who would have thought that reality is a product of a universal equation, and to think that the movie "matrix" was sci-fi, it's actually filled with Quantum Mechanics theories (ie. Teleportation, levitation, multiverse, rabbit holes, telekinesis). Well, I figured out that paranormal is just word for another facet of our natural world that is yet to be explored. Going back to Teleportation... We all know that we're made of atoms, and atoms are made up of smaller subparticles, these subparticles are further made up of smaller units (ie. quarks for photon, and lepton for electrons). Quantum Physicists believe that there are even smaller units, and at the end, a vibration, of course, these are all theories that requires further testing. To sum up this theory, us, and the universe are made up of one and the same energy (I don't know what to call it, so I'll just say energy). We don't need to transform ourselves into data because we are already made of data. So the problem with teleportation is how to deconstruct ourselves and reassemble it on another place with everything about us intact. This involves various mathematical calculations (that doesn't even make sense to me, please forgive my stupidity). But all I know is that everything in the process must be predicted (ie. where/when/how the assembly should take place. I also hypothesize that it must be done within a capsule where one is a vacuum, and the other is not. The process should also be instantaneous, meaning, every piece should instantly be transferred and assembled without delay as I presume that even during the transfer, every unit remains active, therefore, if even just a single piece changes and misaligned due to time difference, a breakdown domino effect would more likely occur. So to prevent this, it at least needs to be done in terms of light speed (this can be a problem since according to Einstein's theory of relativity, light speed can only be attained by matter without mass [ie. photons]). Then again, it is possible if we are disassembled into the finest units of matter. Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong. That's how I understand the EPR theory regarding teleportation. The concept is actually related to Speed of Light, and Wormholes. ____________________ SUPER MARIO RPG EXPANSION MY PERSONAL BLOG Got any SMRPG Hacking related question? astralgamma.nursing-resource.com |

Posted by Kawa It can't be helped, Quantum Mechanics is a broad subject and it's extremely difficult too (now I know why people would rather resort to religion). I blow up a neuron every time I delve into one of these. ____________________ SUPER MARIO RPG EXPANSION MY PERSONAL BLOG Got any SMRPG Hacking related question? astralgamma.nursing-resource.com |

Posted by KawaPosted by al2fenrirYou're forgiven. I don't get them either. Maybe Blackhole does. Maybe. I daresay the math is some of the neatest stuff you'll ever find in terms of applications of math, it's the nitty-gritty real stuff like the problems with quantum teleportation and what we can do with it really. It's really lamentable that most physicists and scientists aren't on the cutting edge like guys like Witten and you only have a handful of mathematical physicists and geometers who really understand. There's one good website I go to by a certain mathematical physicist that has a sliding scale of difficulty from layperson to unbounded difficulty, but most of the hard stuff is delegated to papers and books (or other websites). A lot of it is just pretty pictures which is good, and enlightening diagrams--which are also good. Even if you don't know any math I'd encourage anyone to take a look at it, since you'll find a lot of interesting sciency stuff in one place without the erroneous popsci sort of stuff which tries to sell you unbelievable stories. But yeah I haven't really gotten to reading a lot of the physics stuff lately since I've been busy with math, but quantum field theory or more generally gauge theories are something I want to learn about, along with gravitation which I have a general understanding of. Not to speak for someone else, but I think blacky is also looking to get into this sort of stuff. If you just want to know how teleportation works it might be too much effort and it might be better to keep an eye on experimentalists' results, but from what I know there's been a lot of error when communicating information--far too much to do any of the futuristic trekkie sort of zap a pot of earl grey into existence stuff. |

Posted by SX ??? 1+1=3 ? */+= Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! (Blows another neuron) (Loading reserves) Thanks for the link. Now I can delve more into QM, the subject that we never learned back here. I am prone to popsci myself but hopefully, I can make things straight.
Yeah, that's the purpose of the capsule I hypothesized. One is vacuum, the other is not. The non-vacuum storage is the original storage while the vacuum capsule is the target. In simple understanding, all the contents of the first capsule will be transported into the target capsule, the contents include the surrounding air, and the human subject. According to the law of physics, matter cannot occupy the same space at the same time, so if the target capsule is non-vacuum, there's a higher chance that an error in materialization occurs. Who knows... you can get binded with the surrounding air in the target container. However, I got the feeling that this concept is also flawed. Without understanding the mathematics involving this process, I really cannot hypothesize decent hypothesis. So scratch the word hypothesis... this is a wild guess. ____________________ SUPER MARIO RPG EXPANSION MY PERSONAL BLOG Got any SMRPG Hacking related question? astralgamma.nursing-resource.com |

Y'see, this is why Star Trek teleportation involves the Annular Confinement Beam. Not only does it serve to make sure people don't walk off the platform in mid-scan, but on the other side it pushes matter out of the way, starting as a thin line that extends into a column big enough to fit the subject. That means it creates its own vacuum, with the ACB itself as the capsule Al speaks of. Once teleportation is complete, the ACB dissipates.
This is not an asspull. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |
