As awesome as that game looks, I am certain that it's not Paganitzu.

Ah, this thread fits me so much! I'm surprised I didn't see it earlier.

There's this one Sega Mega Drive game (At least I think it was for the Mega Drive. Either that or the SNES) where you get turned into a round blue blob with one arm by an evil wizard and you have to go on a journey to get your true form back. I remember you could take enemy abilities a bit like Kirby games, and there was a Super Mario Bros. 3 style world map.

I've looked for this game for many years, but I've never quite found it (Although I've seen some similar games, I know they're not it). I wonder if anyone else remembers this game, or even knows what it's called...

I think you're thinking of Smartball. But you can't get enemy's powers.

It's for the SNES.

But you get turned into this slime. I'm fairly sure that's what you're thinking of.

Also there was an unreleased (Only available in Beta roms) called Jelly (Jerry) boy 2.

Jerry (Jelly) boy is the Japanese name for Smartball.

And the world map on Smartball wasn't SMB 3 style. Mayhaps this isn't the game. I'm not sure.

Yeah, I checked out that game but since it isn't quite the same (Similar plot idea though) I'm pretty sure it's not what I'm looking for. Plus, I'm 75% sure it was a Mega Drive game...

Ah, old games. Some of them where the best games I've played. Let's see...

Terminal Velocity was an early arcade combat flight-sim game. Really fun - and only required 8MB of RAM while still having just about everything modeled in 3d - only effects where still sprites. You just don't see arcade flight-sims much anymore.

There was also an interesting little game called 'Skyroads' that I used to play. Basically and obstacle avoidance game - you had to get your vehicle to the end of some floating platforms in the sky without falling off, smashing into something, or landing on a type of platform that would blow you up. Levels varied from 'meh, that wasn't too difficult' easy to 'Oh dear lord you're joking' hard. Enjoyable, but frustrating.

I remember Terminal Velocity. I didn't like the game much, but I LOVED trhe music to it.

Alright, there was a game for the NES (I believe it was NES). It was a bird's eye shooter (Like the 1st Metal Gear or one of the overhead Contra stages). I remember it having powerups and I believe it started with an A, although it probably didn't. I always called it Atari as a child, just because I thought of the system Atari. I believe one of the bosses for a stage were 2 guys. I can barely remember anything about this game, but I would love to test it out again.

Edit: I also remember there being rainbow tanks that you could get in.

This was one of the first games for my family's old 166MHz computer back in the day. That computer was the best you could get at that time.

While I'm at it I'll have to mention Monster Truck Madness. Had tons of fun with that game.
