In this thread, post your favorite or otherwise rockin' SNES Soundtracks, whether it be for an existing game, or a homebrew one. Any information as to why you like it and discussion of such is welcome. I'll start with this one:

Didn't really grow up with Top Gear, but this track was one of the first to pop out in my mind. Amazing track.

Love the music in this game. But if we post them this way, we can't add the &fmt=18 tag to them.

I present to you Star Fox. Easily my favorite 16-bit soundtrack.

Some of my favorites:

Controls (a very nice, simple melody...)

...increase the epic-ness a dozen or so notches and you get:

Map Select (man I want to play this game now)

Meteor (excellent use of stereo sound, which you sadly can't hear here)

High quality link

Boss (Titania)

Fortuna

Venom Base (Level 2)

I use the other "Incoming Enemy!" Star Fox BGM as my cellphone's ringtone, though mostly for the "Incoming Enemy!" part.

I really don't understand what's supposed to be so good about Yume wa Owaranai. Sure, it's a technically rare feat for the underlying hardware, but judged on its own, I'd consider it at best average...

Now, have some of my suggestions:

<- Star Fox - Ending

<- Secret of Mana - Time Enough for Love ("Give Love its Rightful Time", see my rant thread about soundtrack titles)

<- Seiken Densetsu 3 - The Sacrifice, Part III

<- Lufia II - Last Duel (only found LQ version...)

How 'bout some elevator music, guys?

I approve.

EDIT: We need a thread for YM2616 (Mega Drive/Genesis) music. There's some really awesome 16-bit tunage you guys are missing out on by limiting yourself to the SNES.

[...] Super Metroid

If I ever get into a position to determine such things, I am so going to have that employed as elevator music in the real world.

Cool song, Matrixz. But change the second size modifier in the embed html to 25. The one that says "height".

Oh geez, SNES music... Where do I start?

So many shmups on the SNES, so much good music for them.

Well, here are two I can readily get:

Axelay - Stage 3 (Mother)

I just love this music! It has the right tone for the setting and it's just pleasing to my ears. A good bit of the Axelay music is great overall but this is one that really stands out for me.

Super E.D.F. - Stage 4 (Sunlit A Colony)

Ah Super E.D.F.... Many would consider it an alright, middle line shmup that is forgettable, but I really enjoy it. The SNES version has some changes compared to the Arcade version, such as this stage which was added. It just like the song above just fits the stage well and I really enjoy it.

Brought me nostalgic feelings even the first time I played the game. Still one of my favorite Videogame songs from the 90's.

I'm not sure where fans started calling it Flower Garden, I call it that myself since I got the name from DJBouche.
