And of course, as usual they taunt the RIAA/MPAA/whatever regarding the hours long "downtime".

Will be interesting to see the development of this. I find it interesting how the media reports regarding those events in a such way that makes it easy to find the site.

I would like source on that. There was talk about one company taking over Thepiratebay, but said company went into various problems so the deal never went anywhere.

I think the whole changing owners thing might well have been a massive trolling stunt to create confusion as to the site's operatorship for court cases.

Note how they stopped signing their blog posts by name around that time.

Oh, I don't quite remember where I heard it. I'll try to find it again for ya.

EDIT: Well, I guess the purchase did fall through. Pirate Bay is free for all. I should have checked a bit more in the first place.

I reckon that for people who went through commerce school, the idea of something's popularity being driven by ideological motivations and that there are good ideas that can't be turned into consumer-oriented buzzword enterprises that simply is so utterly alien that they don't even recognize related precedents...
