To append to #2, I believe there is a tag you can set to where you can tell the song to stop. This was more commonly used back when DWI was big, if I'm not mistaken.

As for classical...hell...you ought to see the remix of V I did for a beta.

Here.

It was built with two handed keyboard in mind, so that particular chart will NOT go to pad very well if at all. Additional plans are being made for it TO go to pad, however (likely a 9, like the DDR EX version before it).

Since we're talking about scores that we've been getting recently, I figured I'd show you guys a few that I got just tonight in my 'lookout for #1 run' on SMO. However slow it may be...

All of these are done with C600 with the Note+ skin.

Innocent, Heavy (10) - AA, FC/SDG
- 9 from AAA. Pissed me off that I ph4gg3d up the ending.

DDR Megamix 1, Oni (10) - AA, FC/SDG
- 3 from AAA. Screwed up once in Captain Jack and twice in B4U (though I didn't care after I said 'fuck!!' on the first one at around combo 2200).

Rama Gardens 2.0, Heavy (10) - AA, FC/SDG
- 6 from AAA. Random errors but most of them were because of the intense stream/mine ratio.

A, Oni (9) - AAA, SDP
- 4 from AAAA.

PARANOIA survivor MAX, Oni (10) - AAA
- New personal high score; 27 from AAAA.

Stoic (Extreme Version), Heavy (9) - AAA, SDP
- 8 from AAAA. Mostly sightread.

TRIP MACHINE, Heavy (8) - AAA, SDP
- 6 from AAAA. AAAA'd half of it.

PARANOiA, Heavy (8), AAA, SDP
- 8 from AAAA. Got cocky and made stupid mistakes throughout.

Quasar, Heavy (10), AAA
- New personal high score; 45 from AAAA.

Honorable Mentions (not quite as amazing):
Butterfly, Oni 8 AAA (26 from; the damned thing is off I'm sure)
DEAD END, Heavy 9 AAA (17 from)
Leading Cyber, Heavy 9 AAA (13 from)

>>>

By the by, cpu, if you don't know by now your Moonlight file is off-sync. Coming in too late I think.

I played in a silly little tournament yesterday. Did horribly. You can read about the experience here.

By the way, did anyone download that simfile pack I mentioned on the last page?

Can't download it at the moment since I'm over somewhere else, but when I get back I am going to get it. I need to put it on my desktop anyway. =\

I do wonder...

When developers work on this kind of game... Are ALL the songs and ALL the difficulty levels tested thoroughly by beta-testers to make sure they are all physically possible? Who does all the testings?

Probably not too much.

Or if it is, it's heavily biased testing anyways. I can concur that with the results of SuperNova. :\

Or we could always go HYPER OFFBEAT...

Usually the testing is done at certain locations by players. At least that is what I know about SuperNOVA. People play it at a certain location(s) and they give feedback. Although it is hugely biased probably because those that play it do nothing but Heavy, so usually the easier steps are forgotten about.

With PIU Pro they did the same in two or three locations. When they first announced it they had a beta up already in Washington. Later on they had another location (although it replaced a NX ) in California and another in New York or something. From what I saw it was mostly ITG players complaining about certain aspects of the game that they didn't like, so... that was heavily biased. Add to the fact that every course is now pretty much CZ only shows how biased the testing went.

PIU NX had beta testing in Mexico for about a month or two before release. From what I saw it was mostly them playing with a keyboard and playing almost every difficulty on the more well known songs. Still biased though, as they seemed to neglect many other new songs as well as Normal (minus Chimera and the Final Audition Eps.).

I dunno how they did ITG.

Wasn't it testing at 8-on-the-Block or whatever it was called?

Speaking of that...I think a huge majority of the interest for the dance community WENT to Mexico not long ago. At least that's all I seem to hear these days; more south of the border play it than here. :\

Kles's posting before the 24h reset has me thinking to rename this thread to "Music Game Thread" so that way we can update on more than just DDR/ITG/PIU. It'd give the thread more activity and also help with, say, just more discussion?

Plus it was requested a while ago. Might as well go with it.

This is for those that didn't get the memo last night.

Seems it already has a 10 rating on it.

I played some ITG2 in an arcade yesterday (I actually get to do this every now and again..once a month or so probably).

I thought these were pretty good scores.

Well, seeing as how StepMania and similar games are involved...
I decided to go with "GANNON Techno 600"(Rank 8 Standard), which constantly doles out a BPM of 600.

I did badly...

I should try another one that's not so fast.
(And I failed my first time at it.)

Non-Edit: Tried again, this time with "Dream Land N64"(Rank 6 Standard). I did better with an A at 187 BPM.

Better...but Voltage is a weakness.

Non-Edit2: Not I see, I saved JPGs. To finish off the credit I used, I went on "Crowdpleaser"(Rank 7 Standard). It was poor.

Disappoint.

You should:
A: Change it to Event Mode. It allows for more play.
B: Speed mods. Those make it easier for you.
C: Get better sims. From the looks of it you got some... eh, iffy ones. Find some from Hiryuu, DahrkDaiz, and I (cpubasic13). Most have all difficulties, so you'll find some good ones for you.

Optional: Get a SM Theme. This should help you a bit.

I like to record the full Hi-Scores, though. More variables in the game.
Posted by cpubasic13
B: Speed mods. Those make it easier for you.

So I just crank it down to x0.25 whenever I want to practice then? I usually just stay with the defaults.

Suggest and I shall get. I tend to find a random assortment of preferences when I search. Plus, I had a few good ones that I didn't want to repeat for here, since there was already a score on them.

Got one. Looks good compared to how it was. I'll see tomorrow...(11:40 PM)

So, 1AM, and just decided to do some songs.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, was pretty difficult (for me)

Steps - 5, 6, 7, 8. A sim I am working for, and this is me testing the challenge mode. I might make it a little bit harder.

You'll be hooked on the brothers!

um.

Slowing it down makes it CONSIDERABLY harder. Try 3x on a 160 BPM song. You'll find it so much easier.
