At Neritic Net we have a You Have Been Ninjaed feature, that is, when someone posts a message when you were typing yours, instead of your message being posted, you get a you've been ninjaed notification and below, what appears on post preview (a preview of your message and the posts of the thread below, so you see who and what ninjaed you).

This is extremely powerful to make necessary changes, and so you don't miss posts that appeared above yours, when someone posts quickly after me I always wonder if they missed my post, like just happened.

It seems like a feature that, while certainly useful to various kinds of forum games, would have a tendency to cause accidents when serious, non-lowbrow posts bounce and the poster overlooks it.

If I had to choose, I'd say the good posts should be given priority.

Well then, what about the notification without the bounce? Right now, since you are sent to how your message looks like, it's really easy to not scroll up and miss the message.

What about making it optional? I'd like the ninjaed notification to stop my posts, last Lingo round would have been different had I known I was ninjaing MM.

Other forum software does this (such as phpBB), going into post preview mode if someone just posted after you started typing your post. It's fairly useful really.
