Some people have RSS feeds, and others have the news on their televisions... but how do most people find out what's up/down/going on?

Slashdot is my main news source nowadays. I tend to hear from friends when anything else newsworthy is happening.

Wikinews, random internet browsing, heise.de and a certain German blog that has been quite rightfully called a net culture tabloid, but includes sources for all its tabloidesque items, which makes it quite acceptable on my map.

Also general news noise picked up from real-life and IRC conversations, newspapers people forget on the bus and what-not.

Actually I forgot to mention that I tend to pick up the "Metro" newspapers given out for free on the buses here. It's a Swedish ad-driven newspaper, which I believe have spread to some parts of the world, including some cities in USA.

From whatever news links people post on irc/the board(s), pretty much. Also I rarely watch TV news because they rarely report anything of significant interest ("lol lets have a bunch of stories on tiger woods itll be great hehehahaheyeaehnaaahgh*dead*").

I'm with Kev, plus whatever catches my eye when I walk past a random newspaper, and whatever's mentioned in the WikiNews panel on Wikipedia.

And yes, there is a Metro newspaper here in the Netherlands too.

I might be missing something obvious there, but I fail to see where that came from or how it relates to the thread's topic.

Although, I suppose, that's some pretty newsworthy information in itself.

I don't. The problem is that people usually assume that I know what's going on, the plus side is that I can read news from 2004 in awe of what I didn't know happened back then, etc.

Maybe it's about time to tell you about the fall of the Berlin wall and when World trade center collapsed...

Pretty much facebook works for me, and my homepage rr.com and ny1.com. Television here in the United States are all up in the celebrities asses to focus on anything serious in my opinion...

Most of what I learn about current events comes from cursory checks of tv news, the Geekologie blog, Cracked (a very reputable news source indeed), people on Facebook complaining, and that one friend I have who always tells me about foreign relations news whether obscure or common.

Talking about American television, I still think Fox News is some big practical joke.

Well, you might as well think that about 50% of America is.
