I'd have to say it is my favorite anime. I can't wait for the new episode tomorrow.

correction:durarara!!

its a saving grace amongst numerous train wrecks (the boring disgusting type not the grotesquely interesting)

i appreciate how they bring out the individualism of each character, without messing up the plot coherence or the character development as well as playing around with the order of events without too many notable anachronisms.

If you haven't yet, watch Baccano. It is made by the same company and focuses on each character in a similar way as Durarara.

Without having watched either, I think you should be careful about calling anything your favourite without having gained some distance from it to be able to compare it to competitors in the same class in a more objective light.

That being said, I might have a look at it. Lots of people seem to be liking it and the other series this season (apart from, perhaps, Sora no Woto) all have been disappointing to varying degrees.

The thing is there really aren't many animes to compare it to except Baccano and as I said, it is made by the same company.

A retrospect followup: it was worth watching, unlike baccano which I thought was pretty pretentious garbage--maybe it's no more than a modern-day baccano, but the japanese know more about shinjuku or wherever than some victorian lulz.

In other words, I would give it a 1~4 episode screening to see if you like it and go on from there.
