To those who didn't know we had parts of it in for ages, the search function now also is accessible as a link in the board header. I gave it some finishing touches earlier (i.e. implemented all the filtering, fixed a handful of issues about data display).

Search queries function much like old-school search engines: words can be coupled with AND/OR and grouped into literal strings with doublequotes ("").

The bulk of the code was written by Boom.dk back in ancient times past.

I hope some of you can put it into good use.

I'm also glad this isn't a crappy search page powered by Google/Yahoo/whatever search engine which don't always find all the pages.

But what's that empty "Harbl" tab?

doesn't mean SQL knowledge is required to use it

Edit: When searching in post content, it displays that string:
pt.text LIKE '%[keyword_goes_here]%'
just before the results.

Okay.

Also, searching in thread titles doesn't work if you don't specify a particular forum to search in. Makes the thing useless if, for example, the thread you're looking for has been moved/trashed and you don't know it.

However, I hope the algorithm it uses isn't too slow. Otherwise, it may kill the server if you have too many users using it at the same time.

Also, it seems like there's no way to perform a search with single quotes within the keywords:

' -> disappears
'' (two single quotes) -> disappears
\' -> disappears
' -> changes to 039

At the moment, it eats most special chars.

I might try to think of a good escaping scheme later.
