Lesee...
-When my dad was installing a bigass flourescent light in the kitchen, he dropped the bulb and it shattered. For months, I feared if I walked under that light it'd fall on me. -The video game cartridges contained tiny worlds, and the TV simply displayed these worlds. -If you opened and closed all of a car's doors really fast, it'd fly, just like how birds flap their wings to fly. -Various bricks in Super Mario Bros contained "invisible treasure that you can't see". I'm not sure what purpose this treasure would have served, seeing how it doesn't give you points, lives etc, but I made a point of grabbing it every time. |

I thought lesbians were people who lived in Lesbia.
I thought Trapster was female. That's all I can think of. ____________________ ._. + internet |

Posted by EvilMushroom I thought the same thing, and I figured Lesbia was somewhere in the Balkans, like Serbia. I thought all of school was just playing on the floor with toy cars and such, and that kindergarden to 12th grade only took maybe three weeks and then I didn't have to go to school anymore. Boy was I disappointed... |

That my parents were more intelligent then I was...boy how wrong that turned out to be.
I believed that the government actually tried to help people. BWAHAHAHA I believed I was immortal....still do. I've been legally dead 3 times so far. These certificates are so cool. ____________________ What FF7: Advent Children Character Are You? |

Koitenshin: Legally dead three times? So you've had your heart stopped?

Posted by Kles Yes I've had my heart stopped. The first time I drowned. That's no fun. I don't remember it but they said they couldn't revive me. I sat up, coughed out a shitload of water, and spoke demonically "You'll have to do better to kill me than that." Honest truth. Scared the hell out of my parents. ____________________ What FF7: Advent Children Character Are You? |

That is fucking awesome.
Oh yes, I remember thinking my parents would believe I'd suddenly been replaced with a Chinese person when I walked out of my room wearing a parka I found in the closet and claimed to be from "the other side of the world". Speaking of which, when people talked about the other side of the world, I figured there was this huge barrier dividing the planet into two pieces. Or when we lived out in the country and we had a problem with mice getting in the house. My suggestion? A "No mice allowed" sign. |

If you mean language-wise, well, that's pretty understandable. None of them are Roman-based, so people who haven't studied them tend to have trouble even comprehending them. I wouldn't expect someone with no knowledge of any Asian languages to tell me that this circle with a line next to it is Korean and that circle with a line coming off it is Japanese, and the fact that Japanese and Chinese both use Kanji makes it even worse.
If you mean Chinese, Japanese and Korean people... a lot of people claim they can't, but it's not that hard. Now if you mean not knowing the difference between the three countries, well that's something else entirely. |

I used to not know how to pronounce Japanese words, so I just applied English pronunciation rules like "an E at the end is silent and makes the vowel long". So I rhymed anime with time, pronounced kitsune as kit-soon, etc. |

I used to believe English was the only language that existed. This is coming from someone who has lived on the border of the US and Mexico for all of his life. |

On the subject of languages, I thought all of Canada spoke French...I was surprised when I went to Ontario in 1993 and saw and heard mostly English. |

I also thought the "Service Engine Soon" on my mom's car meant that the engine will explode if you don't fix it fast enough xd |

Posted by KlesFrom what I remember, I saw a Special Olympics commercial and the athlete looked like a kid to me, probably because they had a young face. And I was really little, like four or so, so even if the commercial had included some blurb about mentally challenged people, I wouldn't have understood what it meant.Posted by Rydain I also remember being that age and getting confused by a "No Trespassing" sign. I didn't know the word, and I wondered why it said no trees passing when there were tons of trees around. |
