Last view: 4493 days 		That is bizarre. I have never seen that before, because in order for a partition to be made off of a hard disk, it needs to have a volume. All I can say is to try to go into Disk Management and see if it even shows up. If it doesn't, then I dunno what to tell you.

But I have no idea why it shows up as 0bytes or even shows up at all...

The reason why it possibly showed up is that it likely had been set as hidden, but somehow got unset, not 100% on this one. Pretty sure there's a flag for that in the partition table, but I have no idea why that would have been changed, or it could have just been set to not show up in the registry by the OEM windows installation and that somehow got messed up.

The reason that it shows up as having no space, is that Windows sees it as "unformatted", simply because it has no idea what filesystem it is, if it's even anything other than some kind of backup software's proprietary image format crammed in to a disk partition.

Overall, you can probably just ignore it. If it's a problem, see about hiding it's appearance in Windows (Probably wouldn't be best to go about setting the hidden bit, because the recovery program might not be able to properly detect it if you do that.).

I'd assume that it's been assigned a drive letter, by someone at least. However, you should be able to remove the assigned letter in Computer Management/Disc Management under the Administrator tools (I'm not sure exactly what it's called in Vista/Win7, but I know it's there in Win7 at least).

At least, my laptop's recovery partition (which I can delete now if I liked, since I made the discs) is invisible and can have a lettered drive assigned/removed.

What I suggest:
1. Try to remove it as Gywall suggested.
2. If you can't, just don't care about it. Leave it alone and see.
3. If it causes trouble, reformat and reinstall Windows.
4. If it comes back after a reformat/reinstall, buy a new computer.
5. If it comes back after that, shoot yourself.

Okay, the 4. and 5. are a bit extreme Please avoid following them unless it's really needed.

Last view: 4493 days 		I don't think my laptop even had a recovery partition on it, not that it mattered anyway because as soon as I got it, I bumped up to Vista Business from Home Premium anyway, making the recovery partition moot to begin with. If it pops up in my Windows 7 suddenly after nearly 2 years since buying the computer and never seeing it, only then will I be even slightly concerned, because I would just delete the volume off of it and expand either C:\ or E:\ over it.

Allright. Not to mention that some installation programs don't let you choose a place for installing the program or, like VS2010's installation program, they do, but still put a lot of stuff in C:\.

So you'd better format that Vista partition and expand C:\ to it. Don't have any regrets doing so. Vista is crap compared to Seven.

Uh, MM, it looks like most of his actual (non-OS) data is in the Vista partition, so formatting it would be... a rather bad idea, unless he's going to back-up 120GB suddenly.

This is the real problem. He should have made a bigger partition for Seven to begin with. Like, half the HDD for Vista and the other half for Seven.

Now, unless he can backup all those data somewhere, he's going to have trouble fixing this.
