I chose my name in honor of my favorite fighter from R-Type Final, the RX-12 Cross The Rubicon. Being the shmup fan that I am, and having the picture of it as a background, I thought it would be a perfect fit.
As a partial aside, the term "cross the Rubicon" is similar in meaning to "passing the point of no return". It comes from Ancient Rome when crossing it with a Roman legion was against the law. Julius Ceasar crossed it with his unit to invade Rome and thus triggered war with the Romans.
In the game, this craft is the key to using many of the higher number craft, including the R-13 series and the Bydo organic enhanced fighters. It was designed to push the theoretical upper limit of R-series fighters' Bydo level, thus the designation Bydo Coefficient Test Unit.
It is also a semi-cameo for the fighter from X-Multiply, another shmup created by Irem. This is noted by it's Force unit, a mimic of the main feature of the X-Multiply fighter.
