So I'm getting back into fraxy after being away for something like a year. I'm starting to wrap my head back around the old things and the new things and I'm finding that the wiki seems a bit behind on it's coverage. For instance, I'm trying to manipulate the parameters of the missiles and whenever I enter a number higher then 0 for the extra parameter 1 It simply explodes instantly. I'm not sure if this is because something has changed in the current version (20091219beta) or because something is wrong with the parameter values on the wiki.

Any idea why the missle don't work? Are there other errors? Are we going to add to the wiki?

ex param 8 is 0 by default

you have to set ex param 8 (bullet lifespan in frames) to at least 1

but i suggest 150

Well, the wiki depends on the Fraxy players to add to it, and no one seems to be doing much of that lately.

Thank you for noticing that, we're working on it.

As to the Missile exploding, I'm going to guess you haven't set Extra Parameter 8 yet so it's defaulting to 0 (instant destruction). To use Extra Parameters effectively, you need to set values to quite a number of them, in the case of Missiles Extra Parameter 8 is vital as it controls the lifespan of a Missile. When Extra Parameter 1 is 0, it will not accept any other Extra Parameters and it defaults to the Missile's in-game settings. Any other values than 1 means you are committed to using other Extra Parameters. If you did set Extra Parameter 8 to a value, then there may be a problem. I suggest setting it to 30-50 as a test. I also suggest changing Extra Parameters 2 and 3 to control the speed of the Missile.

So editing one extra param sets all the others to the defaults? dang so now i'm going to have to go through ALL the freaking parameters? Man that's an annoyance. We need to expand those wiki's eh? Once I get my mind around it I'll start adding and editing

You don't have to set all of them, just the ones that you want. Think of the Extra Parameters as a way to rewrite a part's function. For example, using the Energy Egg, you want it to shoot out very fast but slow to a crawl later and shoot Ion Rings in a line at the player. The Eggs cannot be hit. The setup would look something like this:

Extra Parameter 1 = 1 (Allow Extra Parameters)
Extra Parameter 2 = 3000 (Initial Speed)
Extra Parameter 3 = 150 (Fading Speed)
Extra Parameter 5 = 1 (Shrapnel aims at player, line)
Extra Parameter 6 = 24 (Ion Ring shrapnel)
Extra Parameter 7 = -2 (Intangible)
Extra Parameter 8 = 40 (Short life)

This will run you 2 events. As you notice, Extra Parameter 4 is omitted. This is because I don't want the Egg to curve.

Hopefully that gives a better explanation. You could also look at Section 1 of the Extra Parameter tutorial for a recap. =)
