My friend can't sign on, but a lot of people can. It's kind of funny, seeing as how he's on the same fucking network as me.

Piece of shit program.

I've never used MSN. When I got instant messenger in 2003, I chose AIM because it seemed to be the most popular at the boards I went to at the time (including Acmlm's). I use Gaim, and I've never gotten Trillian to work, oddly enough.

I use AIM and Y! via GAIM. There's no reason to ever use MSN Messenger.

I switched to Gaim after I got fed up with AOL's AIM and its stupid voice ads. I listen to music on the computer and Internet a lot, and I don't like having voice ads play on top of it.

Also, AOL's program has been linked to spyware and viruses...

I used to use an older AIM client, but when I found GAIM I sort of fell in love with it. It is a fairly simple device, but it comes with a lot of nice features all the same.. Plus, no advertisements and the ability to connect to other messenger servers (other than AIM), it's definitely a winner for me.

Yeah, don't you hate when a new version is worse than the old? I remember an old Windows Media Player which didn't do the web-enhanced stuff, and I could play any songs I wanted in any order from Internet radio stations...and Windows doesn't seem to allow Media Player to be replaced with an older version.

MSN has been down? I haven´t noticed any problems with mine. It´s working as good as usual.

But it might have logged me in again after being offline a couple of minutes.

It´s not down for me.

hmm I left work and it was signed in fine. Got home logged on and it comes up with an error box saying it's temp down.

The error comes up so fast it must be hitting the server.

All of Microsoft's new programs are pure bollocks. Steer well clear of IE7, WMP11, MSN8.1, and most of all, Vista. And renaming MSN to Live? Ugh, they just suddenly became retarded

But yeah, I was on MSN earlier, and after I signed out for a few minutes, I couldn't get back in. Still can't.

Lastly, AIM is a horrible, horrible program. Anything made by AOL is.

I use Trillian for AIM and MSN (and ICQ but rarely used) since a few years so I don't have to live with the normal crappy clients, but I was using old versions (of the real ones) before that as well, like AIM 4.4 and whatever MSN was at in 2000-2001 ... even the Trillian version I'm using (2.0) is from 2003

The only reason I even had MSN at first was because my cousin used it, I started with ICQ then AIM in 2000

I can get on MSN Windows Dead Messenger right now but it's like no one is on ...

It's DAMNNING DOWN

I use MSN 7.5 (scerewwwww live) for MSN and Miranda IM for everything else. On slower machines (p100s with 32mb o rams) I just simply use Miranda for everything since it's a lightweight non-resource-hogging GPLd awesomeness client.

Hadn't really noticed any weird downtime problems, but then I tend to use almost any other IM protocols my friends uses so... I'm not relied into one.

MSN being down as whole or partly is actually common. :/

I don't see what's so bad with WLM8.1... It works great for me, and the new features/compatibility is certainly handy.

I dunno... For some reason I prefer the original clients when it comes to IM protocols.

The new AIM does suck balls though. I use AIM 5.9 + Middle_man.
