So, anyways. I have a USB 2.0 250 gigabyte external harddrive. Last night it stopped working. I mean the drive is obviously still whizzin' and whirrin' and drivin' away, but it won't be read by my computer. I don't have access to another computer with USB in my house. Any ideas? |

I'd try taking it out of its enclosure and putting it inside the computer, so you can see if its the drive itself, or the usb interface. If it still doesn't show up in My Computer or disk management (or where ever you look if this is a mac), then you can check if appears in your bios.
Unless this is a laptop. Then I don't know what to tell you. ____________________ "I'd like to confuse bok choy with cabbage." |

Those external drive enclosures can sometimes fry the logic boards on the hard drives (because there shit). I've had this thermal take enclosure kill 1 drive already. It's because the manufacturers try to cut costs and they don't ground everything like they should, causing voltage jolts that can fry the logic board. |
