Well, the game's out.

I beat it, found it pretty easier than 9 by a large margin. It's a great game, though, and the *Castle 1* is by far the best Castle level ever, just play it for 30 seconds to see why.

Also, in April we get Bass mode and 3 special stages, whatever those may be, and Endless Attack.

Oh, and as a tip, I'd go with Sheep first.

You played it on easy-mode, huh?

Megaman 9 was a fun challenge so I'll surely not play it on easy.

Three secret stages, three empty weapons slots... hmm.

Well, I already know. Does anyone else? XP

I think MM10 is a bit easier than MM9, well the levels anyway. The Robot Masters are generally harder than in MM9, and unfortunately on Hard Mode, they get new attacks. X___X

I haven't played the game, but people have already uploaded all of the videos of the playthough on YouTube.

I watched most of them. From what I saw:

The levels look horrible, to be honest with you. They just don't have any kick to them. They look bland and very repetitive. And they lack a lot of detail. They use the same structures over and over. The levels in Megaman 9 looked a lot better than these levels. It really sounds like they just threw this game together.

The story looks awful too. And Solar Man, Matrixz' Solar Man stage looks a lot better than that crap. "Solar" usually relates to the sun, and there is nothing "daylight" about that stage. It is a more bland version of Magma Man's stage, and those jumping flames that go from tube to tube just don't look that impressive. Some of the graphics look like shit, despite the fact that it is an 8-bit game. The purple/light blue junk ground in the first Wily stage looks like shit.

Megaman 9 looks a lot better.

I don't know if it is completely fair for me to judge this game or not from just watching someone's complete high quality video walkthrough, but the game doesn't look that great. They could have done better.

Honestly, Matrixz', infidelity's, and Kuja Killer's ROM hacks look a lot better than this game.

Sorry, but I completely and utterly one hundred and ten percent disagree with your post, Retro, except for the obvious golden child ROM hackers' projects looking better and that bit about the story.

I've beaten it twice so far, and I honestly love it. I'm glad I didn't spoil anything for myself in my two-day wait to download it.

It was everything I was hoping for. Brutal difficulty, sharp NES graphics, great music (none of that recycling BS from MM9, either; all tunes are original and even the victory song is remixed), and the weapons were toned down enough that you can't just plow through everything like you can in MM9.

I fully recommend a playthrough for anyone who has any interest in Megaman whatsoever.

Nope. Maybe it's just because I've gotten better at Megaman in general since 9 that I found 10 easier. The game gives you a good access to E-Tanks, and Weapon Tanks help for first timers with mastering how to hit each boss with various weapons. The levels themselves, aside from the castle, felt much less cheap than in 9, except Commando, which can go straight to hell. Final boss was way easier than 9's, that much I can say for sure.

Oh, and the three stages apparently will have Enker, Punk, and Ballade as bosses, as was found on the data. Someone already hacked Bass mode, which is on Youtube. He seems to play like he did in R&F.

Video here.

You have a good point here. Megaman is the kind of game you can play without worrying about the story. But if you're going to add a story, try to make it a little good. Whether it had a story or not, I was just saying that the thrown-in story was pretty lame, that is all.

Well, it had a small story (the bits about Protoman, Breakman, Gamma), but you're right that for the most part, the game didn't have a big story, and it didn't have any impact on the gameplay. The game was fun. As I said above, whether it had a story or not, I was just stating that the story they used wasn't that great.

That's cool man. You can disagree if you want.

As I said before, it's probably not fair for me to completely judge this game by watching it be played in it's entirety on YouTube.

The music of the game is great. I have no problems with that.

I just think they slacked a little bit with the robot bosses, levels and graphics this time around. I think Pump Man's stage is a good example. That black background doesn't do anything for it, and it uses the same enemies and level structures over and over.

(Because I'm lazy, I'm reposting my impressions from another forum. Warning: Extreme Positivity)

Bought and played through this game last night. Cleared it in about 3 hours. Definitely up there in the Upper Echelons of Rockmandom, along with 2, 4, and 9. The levels and bosses are all (ALL) well-designed and fair, castle included. The weapons, while not as universally useful as 4 or 9's, are all satisfying to use. The music is both a departure from 9's tempting status quo and absolutely phenomenal (haters: it will grow on you (like fungus, at worst)). All in all, I think this might be my favorite classic Mega Man game yet, though it's a bit too early to judge and I'm not one to pick favorites.

Favorite Stages: Sheep Man, Wily 2
Favorite Bosses: Nitro Man, Tricastle, Block Devil
Favorite Songs: Blade Man and Wily 4
Favorite Weapons: Water Shield and Wheel Cutter

I also played (breezed) through it on easy mode as Protoman in an hour. "Easy" is an understatement. The absurd amount of assist platforms, yashichis, and E/W/M-Tanks spread around the game make me think that Inti Creates was either absolutely terrified of newcomers dying or just flat-out trolling people who though 9 was too hard. Seriously, I'm pretty sure my mom could beat easy mode (note: test this), and the farthest she's ever gotten in an action game is Butter Bridge 1 in SMW about 15 years ago (which, admittedly, is pretty good (especially in comparison to my dad)).

I dunno', man. The bosses feel to me as they always have. It's like I saw someone say on another forum earlier: "People get sick of the repeated elemental-themed bosses, but when Capcom throws in an unexpected design, people automatically accuse them of running out of ideas." Seems like a "damned if they do, damned if they don't" situation to me when I read about them slacking. And as for their battle patterns and themes and whatnot, they're still top notch as always, and the gameplay is what really counts here.

Pumpman's stage is in a sewer, so I think the black background suits. It did in Toadman's level in MM4, after all. I think a colorful sewer would be a very disturbing sight indeed... Personally, I felt MM9 was more lacking in graphics, and Capcom showed some real laziness by making all four Wily stages use the same tilesets with mere palette swaps. I know they do this in most MM titles, but things do get switched up in MM10 at least. It overall seems to be a good balance of the simplicity of MM1-3 with the style of MM4-6.

I can see Pumpman's stage being construed as repetitive. Try taking the bottom path at the split in the middle; it's a unique section in the game that doesn't get repeated later, and it's more difficult than the top route (which is mostly more of what the player has already been through by that point), as well.

I didn't notice any real repetitiveness to the level design. Seems to be about the typical for a Megaman title, and there are many gimmicks that are only used once (half the mini-bosses are unique to their respective stages, sandstorms only in Commando's level, waterfalls and "danger wrap" bubbles only in Pump's level, colliding trucks only in Nitro's level...I could go on).

But yeah, I'm getting off on too many tangents here. Maybe my outlook is more positive because I played the game and was extremely excited for it. I hope you play it sometime, 'cause even if you aren't as positive about it as I or anyone else is, like any good Megaman title, it'll grow on you all the same.

I agree with Mineyl, RetroRain. Sure, the amount of "new content" and impressiveness is not to the caliber of kuja killer's, Matrixz's or Puresabe's hacks, but that's Capcom for you. They discovered a golden engine and they're going to milk it for all it's worth. For most of us, it's been a charm every time, and Mega Man 10 still does a successful job of delivering a fresh truck load of new content while still having that ever-familiar appeal existent in most Mega Man titles.

I would recommend you at least play it, even if it's at a friend's house so you don't have to shell out/possibly squander your own money and give your judgment after living the moment, not just watching it from a video. Even if you are disappointed with it, at least you know that, being a large Mega Man fan that you probably are (and I'd think so, considering you were so hyped for it and even begun this topic) you can say that you've tried another Mega Man title. Whether you feel Capcom has lost its touch or not should be rated from personal experience, not secondhand. XP

I think one of the problems with us, being centered around ROM hacks is that we set our expectations awfully high after playing through masterpieces like Rockman No Constancy and the like, thinking that the standard Mega Man game Capcom themselves made is just that-- standard.

But for me, I'll be honest. I was excited for this to be released, while at the same time, not. I felt the same way, that it would be just another Mega Man game with refreshed ideas, and little more. Though by the time I was done, I was completely hooked. I was even motivated enough to play it on all modes, finish challenges, and even established my place on the All Clear leader board (currently 4th if you disregard hackers) And I know I'll be coming back for more with trying to conquer my current Time Attack scores and the DLC, which is definitely looking better than 9's set.

RetroRain--fair enough, I won't deny the story is kind of lame, but I don't mind; I'm admittedly something of an old man when it comes to these things--that is, I want certain things to stay the same. I want bands to not evolve and try out new sounds, and I want Capcom to keep making the exact same Mega Man game again and again till the day I die.

My only real complaint is that I keep accidentally hitting the stupid trigger and changing the weapon in mid-battle. I wish there was a way to disable this function. I've heard it's better with a classic controller. Maybe it's time I finally invested in one...

On another note: I've been attempting to beat it on hard mode, and I'm up to the boss rush stage, but am dangerously low on E-tanks and have zero bolts (would have beaten Wily phase 2 if I'd been patient instead of cocky, but never mind). Anyone know if I can collect bolts in another stage, head to Dr. Light's lab, then get back to where I left off? I know in Mega Man 1, for instance, if you go to stage select, play another stage, then head back to Wily, you're at Wily Stage 1 again. Does that tradition carry through to Mega Man 10? I'm too scared to try--I don't want to have to beat that godawful morphing Devil boss again!

Honestly, I don't see how you people are having such a large issue with this. Hold the Wiimote as if there are shoulder buttons and that's an instant remedy to your problem. If not, then there is nothing else I can suggest, sorry.

Unfortunately, if you visit a Robot Master stage and then reselect Dr. Wily's castle after advancing through it, you'll revert back to Stage 1. But if you just visit the shop, you won't have that problem. But since you're on Hard Mode, I can't suggest you farm the E tank in Stage 4 which is there in Normal mode...

Block Devil isn't so hard though. I'd reverse an E-tank or two if you really doubt your skills, but Rebound Striker works well against it, and use Triple Blade to get it when it shoots out the blocks at you (from below) If you need help practicing against him, do so on Challenge mode. After a while, avoiding him becomes second nature. =D

Classic controller set to control type 2 is awesome, too. Basically makes the controls exactly as they are in MM7 and all the MMX games, which is by no means a bad thing. It's certainly less awkward than trying to switch with B and A on the fly.

He's really not so bad. Here's what you should do (highlight this text, obviously):

Spoiler:
*boss routine spoilers*

Stand on the RIGHT (not left; there's a HUGE difference) side of the room, and start counting each block movement (two blocks moving at once counts as one movement), jumping over the 6th, 9th, and 11th movements. Count backwards on the return trip (the 11th movement is the final one), and you should be golden. The pattern does not change between the three difficulties, so if you need practice, try it out on easy or normal mode first.

That's about 80% of the fight's difficulty nipped in the bud right there. As for all the lasers and energy balls he shoots at you... The attack from the top of the screen can be dodged by "tricking" it to fire in such a manner that you can avoid it as it homes in on your previous location (probably the hardest attack of his to dodge because of the particles that are loosed after collision).

The laser attack he does when he's on ground level with you just needs to be weaved in and out of. Jump the first laser, go under the second, jump the third, and finally go under the fourth. There's obviously a bit more timing than this involved here because he tracks your position, so like anything, it takes practice.

The "block splash" attack just takes some quick reflexes to safely avoid. All I can really suggest is to try to stay in the middle of the room when the devil is between passes. As far as I know, what side he uses it from is completely random, but as long as you're in the middle, you'll only have to do a minimal amount of dodging. Also: after the attack is done, get back over to the right of the room ASAP.

One last bit of advice: the devil is weak against both Rebound Striker and Thunder Wool. If you'd rather spend your time dodging his attacks instead of trying to fill him full of bouncy balls, he's pretty easy to hit with Thunder Wool if you time it right (I'm not sure, but I believe it deals more damage than each Rebound Striker, plus it hits twice).

*end boss routine spoilers*

Hope that helps ya' in some way.
