Just askin', if other members here like to have the real thing, and maybe even lots of it (if finance allows).

I started to collect Videogames, but not fullsets (maybe 64DD) - mostly stuff I like, but not fancy and rare [prototype] pieces - since I have a good paying job. It just sorta accumulates.

But are here some that also like to have games in their hand, and not only the Harddrive?

PS: No, I have no undumped software.

I'm a collector too. I only get games that I like though, but every possible version of the games I like. So far I don't have much. Just 10~20 games, maybe 30. The sucky part is that there are some super rare games that cost up to $200 (like Rakugaki Showtime). =(

I tend not to get rid of games as such, only if they're exceedingly poor generally.

I'm not sure if that counts as collecting, but they just pile up.

games, lots of games

Actually I'm kidding, I only WISH that were me.

Actually that's not really true either; I do tend to sell stuff I have duplicates of. heh.

Well I mean everyone needs at least 10 copies of DOOM.

But anyways, yeah, I like collecting NES games mostly. I mean when my budget actually permits me going out and buying stuff I don't need, one of the first places I go is a store called The Exchange that we have here. They usually have a pretty nice selection of NES stuff.

hehe, yeah... that guy has copies for pretty much every version (including the rare 5.25" floppy orders)*... but even he wasn't the craziest collector in the thread I pulled the image from

* Whereas I'm perfectly content with just having the Collector's Edition CD-ROM and using patches to downgrade to any version I might happen to want to run for whatever reason.

Fly to the coins
I do collect consoles and games to a certain extent (searching for SNES 2 at the moment) and I only get actually get, by themselves, games I actually like.

2 SNES's, 2 NA Genesis/Mega Drive of different models, 2 N64's, at one point even 3 maybe, but it stopped being in good working order. I have many more consoles than just that, though. I mostly collect handheld consoles though since the home consoles are a hassle to find any carts/games for compared to them.

I don't really get rid of any games I don't like either, I mean, a quarter of my SNES games are of those which I do not like but it was obligatory since they all came with that SNES. I haven't gotten rid of them even though I've had them for a while now. I just tend to go to the nearby thrift store and every once in a while they'll have something good, but unfortunately half the time they have crappy sports titles for any console at all and no actual quality titles.

I should also mention that I don't only collect the games and consoles themselves, but I also tend to buy various plushes that are of video game characters. On occasion I might get a figure or two.

Hmm. I don't know if I should call myself a collector but I don't get rid of many games, if any at all. If I do, it's to save in on games I want from huge bundles I buy.

I don't have enough money to buy any game I see that looks the least interesting. Of course, if I had more money, I'd start collecting games for real.

Me and my brother has 3 NES' together (One of whing we'll try to repair to see if we can make it work better), and a N64. I have a Wii, a DS, 2 GBA SPs, a PC and a PS3.

To be honest, I was the one who mostly bought games for our NES.

Mr. Gimmick for NES would be my absolute dream-affair if I could find it somewhat cheap.

I myself am a video game merchandise collector. I really don't try to "collect" the games themselves, but I really do enjoy hunting down memorabilia of those games. I don't have a means to upload some of my jewels, but I suppose I can give a little list of examples.

-Earthbound- 6 coca-cola keychains of characters. I totally adore these, they were a pain in the ass to get.

-Dragon Quest- Palm-sized vinyl figures of monsters. These are so awesome, but so difficult to find at a cheap price.

-Megaman- I've been lucky enough to get my hands on Megaman 6 figurines, along with a complete set of ones from the cartoon.

The list goes on, I saved every single thing I've owned since my childhood. I've been very lucky in what I can find as of recently.
