The release of this game makes me rage about not owning a Wii yet. I want to play it so damn bad! I guess I should just chill out and bounce on it when I finally get my hands on one, hopefully not after the game has achieved "No big deal" status... |

Boing, lives are generally irrelevant in any Mario game; it's a rare Mario game where you actually have a chance of getting a game over (such as, SMB2j). ____________________ |

Generally, the only Mario titles I get close to game over on these days are the 3-D installments. Incidentally, they're the only Mario titles in the last 10 years that do not save your lives... Would be nice if I could convert my surplus of 200+ lives from SMA4 to my Galaxy file. @_o
Anyway, I'm playing NSMBWii at the moment. My sister and I got halfway through world 4 yesterday on a separate file, and I'm just starting world 3 on my solo file. It's great fun so far, and unlike a lot of people, I'm trying to take my time so that it's not over in just a couple of days. :b (did that with a lot of games I've gotten over-hyped with and regretted it) Trelior: the Wii...it calls you. It is your destiny! ____________________ Back from the beyond. |

I agree a bit. It is fun, but not that big of a deal. ____________________ -Ninjablooper |

From the gameplay videos I have seen, the game doesn't look impressive at all. I don't particulary care for the new slanting platforms that they have (if I remember correctly they were in the DS version as well, which I did play, and was not impressed as well), and you can't see the inside of a wall until you are actually in it (it's stupid, just show it), and there isn't anything about it that makes me want to pick it up. Another game I can pass up.
I really wish these companies would go back to their roots. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

Posted by NightKev I was playing SMB3 on my Wii after years of not playing it... I got a few game overs. Although, lives are still a relic from the arcade days (INSERT MORE COINS TO CONTINUE!) and it's silly that games still have them; especially since saves were made (and some console games have built in save-state like functionality as well; as many saves as you want, rewind the level, etc). |

I agree. It is annoying to have to go through the menu, select your level, etc many times when you can't be the level. Even if they want too keep lives they should at least increase the starting amount to save some time. I've actually almost quit games before because the continue feature takes too long. But as we all know if lives are removed people are going to complain because it isn't like the NES Mario games anymore. ____________________ -Ninjablooper |

Posted by KP9000Posted by boingboingsplatI got to that level so I could test your statement, and you were right, it is the best level ever. What the fuck was that. I want this game so bad now. :< ____________________ we're currently experiencing some technical difficulties |

I was watching my friends play it the other day. It does look pretty sweet, but I also agree with what Bukkarooo said. Despite it not being all that original when accounting for the games on which it's based, it still looks like it can be a barrel of fun. |

i've played it at my friend's house, and i beat it in, well, 14 hours. I sure do love the secrets. This is one of the really cool games to play, way better than being on an emulator. Playing this with an emulator would... suck.
Posted by Quick CurlyYeah, not too original there, yet still fun. This definitely has a bit more exploration than in SMB3, but a bit more challenging than SMB3. I'll be playing some more New Super Mario Wii this afternoon, because my friend is having a birthday at a neat hotel, and we're bringing games. ____________________ No quotes found; we apologize for the inconvenience. I should be able to do multiplayer today so I can finally be able to discuss this part of the game. Hopefully this will make up for me not playing it much. ____________________ -Ninjablooper |
