Quite possibly the biggest forum I have ever been on. I can't get over the amount of people that are always on it. I'm rounding here, 1000 members and 1000 guests. Now, imagine if we had that kind of traffic here?

Or, suppose there was a ROM hacking section on that forum? More people would get into ROM hacking (and obviously you would get a lot of stupid questions), but the main part is that ROM hacking would be more alive than it is now, and we would see more hacks, and with all of those members, you are bound to get some talented people cramming out some really interesting hacks.

Their user counts are indeed impressive.

The question is if a forum of that scale would be willing, or in fact able, to sustain a ROM hacking section considering its legal grey area status and their increased likelihood of attracting copyright lawyer eyes. Then, many communities prefer to play it friendly with (to avoid a harsher "suck up to") gaming industry entities so as to secure the occasional early inside information candy.

Also, ROM hacking has been said to be dead or dying for decades now. Even if the hype moves on (which it undoubtedly will, as today's younger generations grow up on "casual gaming" and 3D, neither of which is too easy or, even if it was, fun to hack), it's probably here to stay as a whole for quite a while.

What the ROM hacking community really could use, though, is someone or something to make hacking of non-Mario games competitive again.

Holy... That's a really big forum.

As for ROM hacking, I agree with blackhole89. A site that big likely wouldn't get too involved in ROM hacking because it attracts a lot of attention and wouldn't want to possibly get on the law's bad side.

There is a section on their forum called "Models / Skins." In that section, people rip 3D models from videogames. Is that considered similar to ROM hacking, in that you are ripping models from copyrighted videogames, and using them on Garry's Mod? I could be wrong, I'm just asking.

I never heard of it until you just brought it up. Too lazy to click link.

However, as a general rule: More users means more idiotic users.

I've recently gotten in to garry's mod, and a lot of results on google for different add-ons and whatnot are on that site. I haven't done any actual browsing, though.
