Well, it's official, I'm now the oldest person I know to get their wisdom teeth removed. Just had the surgery this morning, and I'm busy being all swoll now. Who remembers them getting theirs out? And if their insurance company done raped 'em on the payment? Mine didn't pick up much, as my co-pay was just over $1,500 (!). I'll have to have a chat with them, once I don't have gauze wedged in my teeth.

EDITOR'S NOTE: They had to come out at some point. I should've taken a picture of the X-rays (as my tragus piercings are the clearest things in them) because the bottom two were at about a 45ยบ angle and the top two were crowding the others. Really impacted, needless to say.

(Also, we can edit posts? WHOOOOOO)

....I might beat you..since mine are still in (three of them anyway) and I should have them removed....but damn, that is one nasty co-pay. You might want to contact your insurance provider before you pay them.

They made me pay before I could get 'em done. I'm talking to the insurance company when I go in to work.

I still have my wisdom teeth. I had four molars removed instead to make room for them to come in. I still didn't really have room for them to come in

I have mine, but they seem to be only partially grown in. I see no point in removing them. Is it to prevent infection?

It's mainly for cases in which one's mouth can't fit all of the regular teeth and all the wisdom teeth properly, causing excruciating headaches.

At least, I'm pretty sure it's that. I mainly know for sure that most people who have braces at one point or another will have to have them removed, and that I'm pretty sure I'm not one of those people.

I had mine removed this past summer. It was an interesting experience to say the least. I cant say it was fun, but it was interesting

It was also the first time I had gotten knocked out with drugs... I didnt have any hallucinations or anything though

My wisdom teeth are still in. They probably won't have to come out, so I guess I got lucky.

On the subject of getting knocked out by drugs though, I remember when I went in to have my adenoids out. The gas they gave me knocked me cold in about five seconds. I remember actually trying to resist it some, too :p

Nice to know. I never had braces, so mine should work out just fine.

I have my first one coming in now. The Dentist says I should keep mine since my mouth is big enough... I don't know if I want to though...

One of mine is starting to come in. None of my siblings have needed to have them out, so I might not need mine out either. I do have plenty of room for all four. (At least I hope so. )

I don't have my wisdom teeth yet, but I will probably have problems with them because of braces...

Why not? If they're not an issue, leave them in there. The whole stigma behind wisdom teeth is the pain of removing them. If you don't need to remove them, it's all good.

All four of mine are impacted and they say that nothing NEEDS to be done but I might as well get 'em removed to be on the safe side. Says the dentist with the sweet ride and no financial worries.

When I read the title the first thing I thought of was Twinkle Star...

Anyway I haven't had my wisdom teeth removed...yet. I've had teeth pulled before but I'm not sure if thats the same.

My school insurance took care of about 50% of the cost, so... :\

But I had all 4 done at the same time and didn't go under so yay. (And mine DIDN'T have to come out just yet but eventually it would have had to happen.)

Of course, the next few days after that were pretty pitiful.

Yeah. Even though I had molars removed when I got braces I still didn't have quite enough room on the bottom and they bunched my front teeth a bit when they came in. They also give me headaches =(

drjayphd, I wonder if they gave you the same painkillers they gave my girlfriend. She just had hers out and they gave her some good stuff. And she can refill it like twice. She's just gonna refill it to have some strong painkillers.

I'm pretty sure that's illegal or something.
