Since I haven't had very much to do but work and, well, nothing, me and one of my roomates started playing EvE Online. It has the steepest learning curve of any game I have ever played, but once you learn the basics, it is pretty fun, and even funner with a couple of people to play around with.

The game is a sandbox, but in space, which makes it a really huge sandbox. I'm pretty sure some people have probably heard about it, since it has been around for like six years or something.

I was just curious if anyone else played. If so, maybe we could get together and blow some shiz up.

I remember hearing about EvE Online from some people in college. They explained a little bit of it to me and I found it very interesting how, if I remember correctly, your research and building is somewhat realtime in that it can take many days (some said months) to get an upgrade. How accurate is this?

That's right. Instead of leveling or anything like that, you buy skillbooks for whatever skill you want to learn, and start training it. Each skillbook goes up to 5 levels and some skills have prerequisite skills you have to learn in order to learn them. They all have a difficulty multiplier ranging from x1-x16 i believe it is, which means how long the skill takes to learn. Also, you keep on learning skills that are in your skill queue if you are online, which I think is really awesome.

I always feel like I am progressing in the game, even if I havent logged on in a few days.

I tried it a bit, and didn't really like it too much. Controls were a bit confusing. The concept is something I'd friggin' LOVE to play, but I dunno. I may return to it and give it a second look, but from what I can see, it's not my kinda MMORPG.

I love EVE. I have neglected my 360 and all my other PC games just to spend countless time on this game. I highly recommend playing it because once you get through the tutorial, it's pretty awesome.

My in game name is Nebetsu if anyone wants to fleet up sometime.
