I couldn't exactly think of a good name for this thread, so sorry if it's a tad misleading.

Anyway, there's a feature in another forum I frequent that's really nice.

Say you're writing a post, and you take a while to get it just right, or someone else just types faster than you. You may end up posting and get "ninja'd" or have a debate point disproved. You'll have to go edit your post, which isn't a big deal, but what if there was an alert when you hit the "Submit" button that told you if someone else just posted in the thread?

That's what I'm suggesting. If you hit "Submit", and there was another (or multiple) posts that were before you finished your post and after you began it, it shows you said posts so you could alter your post if need be.

I'm in IRC, so I can see when new posts are posted... So, what I do is while I'm making my post and I see a new post in the thread I'm posting, is refresh my page so I can see the new post(s). I copy my text just in case since I've had the page erase everything in my form field...

It seems like a good idea though.

Yes.

I love this feature over on the MSPA forums, considering they're so active. My slow typing lets me post a reply, and get it rejected because someone went in and ninja'd. Then I get to go and respond to them as well.

DAMN IT KP9000 YOU JUST DID EXACTLY THAT

It's what I do.

Just wanted to mention that those who can't access IRC for some reason or another are specifically in need of this feature.

This is why I usually press "Preview" before hitting "Submit".

Incredibly useful feature, I think. Especially for noobs who post, then don't even REALIZE they ninja'd.

If I remember correctly, isn't Kawa working on a Board 2 Update plugin for the window sitter framework? If he gets that done, anyone unable/unwilling to be in the IRC would have the same benefit of Kuro-Chan.

You didn't remember correctly: Sukasa is doing that. You're pretty much right on the rest though.

Oh, sorry about that, Kawa. I saw it on your page and thought that was something you were working on.

Apologies accepted, though it does say "Design and implementation by Sukasa" right there.

I just went and checked, upon seeing that, I felt just ever so slightly dumb.

* Trelior thinks he needs to start paying more attention to details
