| Nice looking bosses Cate. I'm playing each of these, and going to give you a first-impression review, how's that sound?
Tape Worm: Very simple, but a nice use of tail parts. I never actually got into a situation where the boss wrapped around me like in your screenshot, so it felt like I was mostly boosting in a straight line to keep just ahead of it so I could hit its core with the mg. I'd say tone down on the vulcans a bit, and maybe add some homing lasers to help balance out the loss of vulcans and up its difficulty. I'd also suggest, if you're any good with extra parameters, to make the sonic blasts longer, and pull you in. It'd be much more likely for something like your screenshot to occur then. I encountered a small glitch. Near the very end of the fight, the boss went completely stiff. The tail flag must have gotten turned off somehow. Overall, pretty good for a beginner boss. 3/5
Clockwork: Love the visual effects done with the barriers, even if it caused a bit of lag. I felt that there could have been more firing while you were destroying the barriers, though. At least make the energy eggs a tad more frequent. I would almost put some energy eggs that would fire from the barriers, like having some that are in the last barrier on each "arm". Also, tone down the durability of the barriers. They took way too long to destroy. The additional weapons and such that were added on once the barriers were gone was a pleasant surprise, though the boss as a whole was very easy. Overall, I like it, it's just a bit easy. 4/5
Atomic Spinwheel: I'm not quite sure what to say, this was amazing. It was visually impressive, fun, definitely kept you on your toes, and the multiple stages were very well done. I wasn't expecting the fight to last as long as it did, but I was happy it did. Fantastic job, my favorite of the bunch so far. 5/5
Cube: Very cool concept and execution. took me a second to figure out what I had to do, but it wasn't that difficult to find out hehe. I'd love to see this regenerating block method used on a larger stationary boss. The fact that it moved made it very difficult to survive at times, and I ended up just drilling a straight opening to the core, firing at it, and boosting out before it turned. Pretty fun, and I liked the final stage (not spoiling anything for other people who'll play it). Great concept and execution, it just feels a bit odd having a boss completely centered around just this. 3/5
There ya go, all good bosses. I didn't grade you against Eboshidori, Atomic, or the like, as that would have been unfair haha. The ratings I gave you were based off how I felt about my early bosses, and the bosses I've played from other newcomers. Needless to say, you're pretty damned good for someone so green. Keep up the good work.
