Mineyl - I do appreciate it very much. About your support.
Oh okay i see what you mean now about that. yea. i'd only perfer having 1 single screen though, not a bunch in showing off the boss. I do not wanna have to make a crap load of screens just for something like this but ya know what i mean.
--------------------------------
Keiya633 - yes it would be cool if i was able to have a couple custom songs someday in the future. And no i was not ever going to ask you about translating japanese stuff. i'm fine.

Well actually about the facts about the selected boss, i was actually planning on wanting to have information said about each of the 8 bosses by Dr Light for the "get weapon" screen, or after/before. Like on X5 and X6 how alia talks about a little history of the stage you played or the boss. I really liked that and would like to have some back-storys for each of the 8 bosses. But obviously wont be for a long time either.
---------------------------------
I did actually just come up with an idea last night/this morning. I thought about that i'd want some type of scenerary before the boss actually appears. Like this:
http://www.a3share.com/members/1119/idea1.PNG

this screen bg is not officially on my game at this momment - it was just copy-pasted from mm5, and copy-pasted botman onto it just to show ya guys.

Where the boss is standing above some high mountain or plain or platform or something. But before they appear. The sky quickly changes from a day time to night time pallete, or night time to day time. etc. but in this example above. i tried that out but it really doesn't work at all with this setup of the mountain background - about trying a day time pallete. It just doesn't look right. i think a BG would have to be very specific with no horizon lines to look proper...im not sure. :-/

i would like to point out to people, that while i would hopefully like to get more people to help out with this game, im just not sure that people having my rom as-is would do any good, because i dont use assemblers like people should, and i know people give me a real hard time about this, (which is okay with me) but it's just the decision i personally made when i first started this project a couple years ago.

In other words, this game is entirly done almost in pure hex. Only actual stuff that's not is:
* putting in graphics with YY-CHR/Tile layer pro
* constructing the levels/level design, enemy placements, colors, that kind of stuff, is done with a custom-made version of the MegaFLE X level editor.

Everything else is hex edited to tell the truth, by myself.

Ah, so I'm not the only psychotic who is entangled in a seemingly eternal project that works in pure hex. Good to know. Except this case appears to be even more extreme. I feel your anguish.

Anyway, impressive demo. Lots of impressive technical feats here and there, like adding in that mega buster, the new enemies, the slanted surfaces and so on. Very good graphics too, pretty much every screen looks great. I'd help out, but I'm totally knotted up in finishing my own project. Maybe in a year I could.

It would be nice if you add "Sound Test" in the options menu if your hack does uses custom music.

Like Megaman Forever did which is coded nicely.

Spoiler:
I'm not pretty proud of Rockman 2 but I can rip songs and convert them to .NSF

Insectduel - you just literally seriously tempted me to do it. And...so i did. Only took about 4 hours. But it's 100% finished, and fully functional
Like pressing left/right to scroll through the songs or sounds 1 by 1. They are seperated so only music plays music, only sound plays sound.

A button = play
B button = instantly cancel sound and music

as for that boss selected situation,
im declaring that officially "on hold" once again ... it's like i'm never going to be able to get it out of the dang way.

anyways... shot of the sound test thing:

Haha, sweeeeeeetttt. I was considering asking about you putting in a Sound Test too but I remembered that you didn't use Custom Music in the version you released. So maybe it would've been a later investment; however it's done now so... XD

I'm really anxious to see your Duplex stage, now that you've mentioned it. I feel pathetic for waiting for something like that. >__>;

The only pathetic thing around here is people who kill their emotions and pretend to not be excited over something specifically meant to stir feelings of joy and provide entertainment in the scope of their interests. Be happy!

I thought New Super Mario Bros. was the greatest thing to happen to Mario in eleven years. Every time a new Pokemon game is announced, I get all giddy. I was so excited when I heard Megaman 9 announced that I literally couldn't sleep that night. Shouldn't I feel pathetic for getting so needlessly excited over these things? I tell you friend, the answer is "no" because reliving some of the greatest moments of my childhood in new and never-before-seen ways, to me, is true happiness in a world full of sorrow. If you feel pathetic, then why are you even here?

Errr...yeah. Sorry about that. Awesome sound test, KK. Four hours? Maybe I should learn a bit of ASM, 'cause I can't imagine such a thing taking so long...at least not in my experience.

Nice to see you're still at it kuja. Can't wait to take a crack at what you've got up your sleeve. I really should upload the outside tower Boltman stage soon, now that I think about it...

An excellent point you made there, Mineyl. XD

I don't think I've ever lost sleep over awaiting a game release though... maybe just Smash Bros Brawl because it was expected to be out long before it actually released. XD

Nostalgia... sometimes, I yearn for too much. Especially since I'm still in the same place I was as a child. Most of my friends are gone, and when I look at all of the monuments or places where I develop memories, I tell them that they should come visit here. XD

That's going to a completely different area, though.

I was considering doing that stage since you hadn't, but I figured since you already had two of the stages, might as well let you finish.

I only went through that stage once without using save states. Granted, I didn't attempt it much but those random wind changes are brutal. X_x

kuja killer, I bet it is a lot easier working with that CHR-ROM than it is with CHR-RAM. I'm curious as to what you did to create all of those events though. Like, the dialogue at the beginning of the electrical tower? And shooting the cacoon to make the web disappear? And dialogue mid-battle with Boltman? How did you create those events? Did you use existing objects in the game, and just re-code them?

Personally, if I had to take a guess, I think he expanded the rom, put the info in the new place, and had it jump to there, then return to the spot he was at.

I'm no pro such as Kuja Killer, but from what I know of Megaman 3, I'm guessing much of his work was built from scratch. And that is very impressive. But the dialogue puzzles me as well... Knowing how this was done could be very useful for a noob such as myself. I had idea's when I started my Protoman hack, to have dialogue exchanged between Protoman and other characters throughout the game, to further expand on his side of the story, but not knowing how to code that into the ROM... I pretty much gave up on that until I study and learn more about hacking.

The problem I've often had with ASM hacking, is NOT the ASM hacking itself, but rather, WHAT the code is. I understand ASM and I can code new things, but exactly HOW something should be coded, is something that can be difficult.

It was like the Spin Wheel weapon I coded for MM4. I knew how to code the ASM, but what exactly I was coding was something I needed help with. Does that make sense?

Lets say you know every keyword in a programming language. But someone tells you to code a specific function. I don't know how to code that specific function. If I have a general idea of how to code it, I can code it no problem.

I can add new codes whatever I need to but trying to create something unoriginal can be more hard.

If you remember my breath meter code for Mega Man IV, I have tried to correct it but it's still buggy (Even the Rush Marine effect). I was able to make Mega Man recover the meter (Or while it shows up) while splashing but anything else to the code can be complicated. I can't even create the dying part of the code when it's health reaches 0 while in water and acts like a zombie.

I need codes that make sence. It remains unreleased to the 2nd attempt but I won't be doing it for a while.

Hey guys. I have alot on my mind. I have not been on a comp for almost a week and a half until just last night. I had 1 single virus on my comp, AVG got rid of it, computer than restarts infintely, or the "blue screen of death" saying windows logon process terminated system shutdown.

A friend of my brother was going to help, so we disconnected my comp in hopes we'd see someone asap. But the guy never called my brother. I talked to a close friend of mine using xbox 360 online. he had some things for me to try. I try hooking up my comp, and the tower sparked and killed the power supply but not the hard drive.

I had everything backed up luckily on a portable USB HD. I did not lose any of my password, romhacking tools, megaman 3 hack pictures and files, and so on. My dad found a guy in our local paper to see who was really nice and had lots of computers for me to check out. I picked one i liked, and i bring it home night before last night right ?? 210 dollars. The darn thing doesn't even work right, hard drive kept randomly turning off and on that i couldn't do anything.
Brought it back to the guy, he felt sorry and gave us a replacement tower at no cost. But this one is okay, but it's really noisy and loud which i do not like, plus the sound is all messed up and i dont know how to fix it. So i have to stick with what i got.
-----------------------------------------------
I felt so terrible one night thinking about this whole game, all you guys, my reputation online, everything. I cried myself to sleep saying outloud i would never be able to finish my game ever now just period. But thankfully im back online. It's going to take some time for me to catch up and regain my mind and soul.

I dont want to cancel this like infidel NEARLY did for his hack. I just dont. My dad seriously wants me to get a online job somehow of some kind but im clueless on that. I still wanna finish my game to someday even though im so slow as hell as you all already know.

I really do feel i need to work harder on this thing if it ever stands a chance at seeing the light of day, i feel bad even typing this, wil you guys still support me ? Will some of you volunteer to help out with level design and such for the next levels? I spend all the time on basically the coding of the enemies, but no graphic drawing skills since that lies with megaman-omega, and whoever else would be willing to lend a hand.

Googie - i feel i should have PM'ed you from the beginning about giving you the MegaFLE version i use that's custom to this game. And i swear im going to as soon as i get visual basic 6 downloaded onto this new NOISY tower asap.

Its been so rough for me honestly. And i missed everyone so much.

I know how this feels. I've had a hardware failure before, and it was a harddrive. I lost what it was I was working on and didn't have any backups made. It was my biggest achievement to date and it was so suddenly gone.

Lucky for you, you had a backup.

And what's with all this bad luck with Megaman hacking lately? Fuck bad luck. Let's hope it doesn't get rubbed off onto the SMB3 scene. *knock on wood*

kuja, you have my support.

You have my support as well! You know that from us talking before. It's good to hear you have everything backed up... I am in a band and play guitar, so I do much of my recording at home with my PC being the "brain" behind my mixing console, amps, and other recording equipment. I've gone through loosing my recordings once before, so it really does pay to have a backup plan.

If I can help in any way, feel free to let me know. If nothing else, I'd be happy just to be a beta tester once the hack is futher along, and you feel comfortable with your work.

Best wishes to you Kuja Killer!! We're with you!

Good to have you back. I had the same problems back and now. I was hoping I didn't even lose all my projects.

Back in October 2006, installing libaaryfiles while trying to get MegaFLE X working for Windows 98 actually killed my computer activating the virus.

January 2007: restored, but hard drive fails to upload any files connected to the internet.

February 2008: Hard Drive fixed at the cost of $560 without any deleted projects. I was able to host my SMB2J+2 at the time I register to Board 2.

December 2008: Power supply shuts down. My custom gfx for my Megaman 1 hack and even all mugen files were all gone. My Windows 98 is still at Workforce 1 but I never got it back again.

December 2008 (Before New years): Got my Windows XP. Back to romhacking again.

April 2009: Monitor broken, then brought it for $80.

I had all my expereinces but my lucky 4GB flash drive backs it up for now. I don't want to lose current Mega Man IV project but I already have MM1 on ice because of lost of interest.

You had my support and I urge you to take your time on your projects.

Wow gosh insectduel, you sure have had it rough yourself i can totally imagine. Im lucky i've never really had any major serious problems. But this was really my first big big one in all the 8 years i've been into computers this last week. Good thing your okay too at least currently.

Well guys, even though the duplex stage isn't even still finished. Still still only 1 true whole level done in the history of this hack, i was hoping a bunch of us, not just me and megaman-omega could maybe try getting a start on like the Necro Man stage while i'd still wait for mm-omega in us trying real hard to get duplex all done and over with.

Just anyone. I'll be sure to PM googie as soon as i'm able to get the time to get myself back to normal officially. I hope it wont be long. I really really do want this game to be finished in the future. I set my standards way far too high to go. But i do very much appreciate all your people's comments about me taking my time, but i do wanna let you guys use the MegaFLE level editor privately, and talk with you guys about plans and stuff

Do you mean there's really still hope for it, then?

I love what I've seen of your work so far, and I can only echo the praise and support others have already given you. Give this one time, give yourself time, and don't let it go. Because whatever you create will be very good, and very creative. That's a fact. There's a reason you're ranked among the top Western Rockman hackers, and your work, however long it may take to finish, is bound to show that you deserve the praise and support of others. Keep up the good work!
