Just got it about a week ago, and I've fallen pretty intensely in love with it. I dont think it will ever take the place of my multiplayer fighting soulmate Super Smash, but it is definitely a welcome and needed change up. Its faster than SFIV, with a smaller, more balanced, and more unique cast (it eschews the perfunctory fireballs and uppercuts for characters with truly unique feels and movesets).
The title also reeks of the classic gaming grail of "easy to pick up, difficult to master." I found it wasn't too difficult to start playing for the first time and developing combos. They were small combos, but hey, they're the seeds for greater and bigger things, and it also gives satisfaction and interest to people who pick up the game because of the pro level videos they saw on youtube. Nothing hurts more than watching a video with insane combos and not being able to string more than 3 hits together. I also very much like the small, first time additions to the game. I've never encountered anything like the barrier burst- an ability to instantly interrupt any combo and blast your enemy away, at the price of taking double damage for the remainder of the round. Its a sort of second wind that can cause exciting, game changing momentum shifts. I also like the ability to recover in air and the moment you hit the ground, in whatever direction you'd like. It reminds me of teching in Super Smash. Anyway enough of my micro review. Who here plays!? And what do you think? How does it stack up to other fighters? Can I play with you!? Who do you main?! Love me? ____________________ -Hey baby, I hope you're ready for a night of painfully narcissistic introspection, punctuated by physical unwieldyness, all building up to a big impotent crescendo...followed by me crying in a locked bathroom. -But I don't want comfort. I don't think I've gotten deep enough to find too many of the match-up problems you're referring to. I'm not at all suggesting you're incorrect, merely that I'm curious about some of the match up problems. I can see Tager VS Carl being impossible for obivous reasons. Any others?
Also, I main as Jin. I second as Bang for the same reason I second as Captain Falcon. THEY are the manliest and make me cackle every time I win with them. I also <3 Bangs special where he goes into a super corny anime-esque power up. ____________________ -Hey baby, I hope you're ready for a night of painfully narcissistic introspection, punctuated by physical unwieldyness, all building up to a big impotent crescendo...followed by me crying in a locked bathroom. -But I don't want comfort. I guess I just haven't really played on a pro level yet, so I haven't seen the huge tier valleys myself. I have experienced a good online Nu though.
That sucked many dicks. ____________________ -Hey baby, I hope you're ready for a night of painfully narcissistic introspection, punctuated by physical unwieldyness, all building up to a big impotent crescendo...followed by me crying in a locked bathroom. -But I don't want comfort. What you probably saw was an Astral Finish move, a super special that can only be used under certain circumstances (last round, opponent at 20% life or lower). They're very cinematic game finishers. Most specials aren't too overdone. ____________________ -Hey baby, I hope you're ready for a night of painfully narcissistic introspection, punctuated by physical unwieldyness, all building up to a big impotent crescendo...followed by me crying in a locked bathroom. -But I don't want comfort. Yeah, Blazblue is pretty amazing. I main the great Bang Shishigami, and my subs rang from Tao to Tager to Hakumen to Carl. My friend uses Ragna, which is why my card says Rawrgna as a secondary. Also, it was my first platinum trophy game. ____________________ |
