I feel sorry for anyone who's got a lot of shit to do this weekend.

I'm not even back in school yet! :awesome:

It's raining, so no physical labor for me today.

Tomorrow is a Sunday so there'll be a race to watch.

Monday is Labor Day, which means NO SCHOOL WHEEEEE.

All in all pretty good weekend.

I have no school and university doesn't resume before October.

I miss the school days at times, though slacking out like this definitively has its good sides.

Yeah, I didn't have to remove mine.

My sister didn't have her wisdom teeth removed either, because they somehow managed to come in straight.

Mine are straight, but my friend said she was bawling in pain once the medicine wore off.

So who is scared about the Swine Flu? It is nearly the same as the regular flu, and it shouldn't be easy to catch.

I don't care about swine flu. It's not going to bother someone who stays indoors all day.

My appointment for getting my wisdom teeth was at 10 AM and scheduled to take 2 hours. I was kind of dreading it, but turned out much better than I expected.

The Novocain shots were the part I was dreading the most, but the local anesthetic they applied made them surprisingly painless. After that I barely felt a thing in my mouth (aside from some pressure). The actual teeth extraction part went pretty well (ignoring the fact I almost swallowed the first one...) and only took about as much time as the shots. All in all, the whole thing took only 45 minutes. I spent the next half hour or so lying in the chair while my Mom went into a different room to have her fillings done.

The worst part was probably definitely the gauze they put in my mouth after the operation. That just felt incredibly icky. That, and the residual numbness from the Novocain only made it feel ickier. Ugh. Also, both the gauze pad things and the Novocain made me unable to talk with sounding like my cousin who suffers from mental retardation (not 100% sure if it's Down syndrome).

(And yes, they did put me on nitrous oxide (laughing gas) during the operation, but I didn't really notice any major effects myself. Maybe it actually did make me calmer, but at the time I chalked my calmness up to other reasons (such as the realization that the painkillers actually worked or that the dentist's beard and turban looked really cool). :/ )

As for right now, I don't feel any worse than I used to after a normal orthodontist appointment back when I had braces. In fact, now I'd say I feel even better, thanks to the fact that I'm taking painkiller medication (which I don't do very often). My cheeks aren't even swollen right now (probably because I applied ice to them (alternatively, I haven't waited long enough for them to swell)), and I was even able to eat a hamburger patty for dinner through judicious application of nibbling. All in all, to quote my brother's girlfriend, I'm "unusually perky for someone who just got his wisdom teeth removed."

Maybe I'm just weird.

Glad to hear that everything went well. I knew it would (since I got my wisdom teeth removed quite a few years ago and know firsthand that getting them taken out isn't actually as bad as it sounds).

I was mostly afraid because I've never had an operation done on me before. I really wanted to be knocked out during the procedure (like my older brothers were) because I thought that it would be painful, but once they started applying the anesthetic I realized that everything was going to be fine.

Also, I find it weird that my cheeks aren't swollen, since that's supposedly a common side-effect of the whole procedure. My sister went to her senior prom with a guy who got his wisdom teeth removed the day before, and he looked like a chipmunk.

Does white dye count?

Alternatively, mix toothpaste with soda and rub for the hell of it.

So, who here hikes? I went hiking this weekend. 4 miles up the mountain, 4 miles back. Fun for the whole family!

I've done a 10 mile canoe trek followed the next day with a 8 mile hike through the woods. Carrying at least 20 lbs of gear on my back.

I've also done an 8 mile cross-county ski trek over two days in the middle of the winter. Pulling my gear on a sled behind me. Some of which was uphill.

All together it was pretty freaking awesome.

I've hiked the Grand Canyon before. Truly pristine. It was a 14 mile hike in to civilization. We spent a few days down there where it had been raining/sprinkling the whole time. The rain had made a stream pretty big so we decided to make use of our M80's and blow shit up in the stream.

On the way out, I got a pretty nasty blister the last two miles, so I hiked shoeless... Up the switchbacks of the Grand Canyon. That kinda sucked. I'm glad I didn't take the helicopter tour out though, it was a great experience.
