Things have been blowing up, probably due to a rogue apache2 process again (multiple processes quitting with out-of-memory errors, including the ircd and Kuro-chan). I'm not sure as to what caused it in the first place though; it might have been anything from a software bug via the HDD failing again to some kind of DoS.

Well, he said the it means absolutely nothing to him. So, I threw away my normal assumptions of at least a small amount of technical know-how to anyone who could find sites that aren't mainstream, and I threw a stone in the dark pointing out which way to go in the unlikely case that he was entirely serious and didn't google.
