I might be a bit late on this, but I think it'd look alot better if you made link sit on the side rock on the right, looking into the sky at the moon, with one knee in the air, and the same sword pose. that'd personally be great.

Imma just throw this in here...

Turns out the Satellaview system software is pure Shift-JIS. I tried to edit the name entry tables, but it didn't like single-byte ASCII characters, so my name's in fullwidth.

I changed the 12x16 to an 8x8 fixed width, then changed that to a VWF. I think it looks much better than the fixed width font.

Cute.

Remind me again, folks, how to disable Firefox's automatic image filters?

It is cute. And GM, do you want an honest answer or the obvious one?

The answer that isn't "Get Chrome" or "Get Opera".

It's not a plugin. Just add image-rendering: -moz-crisp-edges; to the image's style.

The method for Opera/Chrome must be the same, with different attribute values...

I was thinking of a different kind of filter. To disable interpolation in Opera: opera:config, Multimedia category, Interpolate Images. But enough about this offtopic nonsense.

Thanks for the comments, this sprite is actually inspired from a sprite I saw on the Symphony of the Night load game screen. There are lots of other 16 x 16 sprites there that might be useful to implement in the future.

Been a while since I posted anything here, anyway there has been much progress in my Z3 hack since then... I'm now making the dungeons and pushing the envelope in terms of what I though I could do with them....

It really is incredible what you did with the dungeon graphics. I was also working on some Z3 dungeons, but I usually edit the gameplay and the rooms. I've never imagined that the indoor graphics could be changed so much.
PS Nice work with the remodeled Rocklops, that was changed into a robot (in one of your previous videos).

Man, that looks nice!

I've been wanting to start a Z3 hack for ever but I probably won't because I hate Hyrule Magic and it seems like Mathonnapkins has stopped working on Black Magic.

Yeah me neither! Ever since I found out HM let's you save the dungeon tile settings, I've lost countless hours of sleep due to always finding new ways to improve the damn graphics!!

Thanks, even through I didn't made those, inserting them into the game was actually quite a pain... I hate how the Zelda 3 spritesets work.

You might be right in hating HM, everybody does! It has quite a learning curve and always screws up your rom one way or another even if you're careful. Still I wish more people would dare hacking the game even so, because making rom backups can take care of 99% of the problems out there.

Anyhow.. I've work some more on the sky temple:

It's not really the corruption of the ROM as much as it is having to work with 32x32 tiles and other annoyances that aren't quite as big, but still make it a pain to use. I do a google search on Black Magic from time to time and never find anything, and haven't even seen any posts from MON in about 6 months. It's a shame that his forum got overrun by bots.

Is the hookshot invisible, or is that a youtube framerate issue?

I just can't seem to get the video to post properly here.

Pasting a video's embed code should work. Click "Share" next to the rating buttons, click the embed button below that, and scroll down for some embedding options and the size of the video area. The embedding code should already be highlighted, so just copy that and paste it into your post! If you've already tried this, try using the old embed option to see if it works.

When you say in your description that your levels will be nothing like the original designs are you talking about the levels after the first (the one showcased)?

it's good to see more SMB3 hacking going on. I know space issues plague level design, but there's one rule of thumb that should be followed regardless of anything else, and that's to *not* build your level from the pieces of the original level. You should build it from scratch, that way it doesn't feel like "just another SMB3 hack" that isn't worth playing. Now, I can tell you already have some good footholds down for level design, so you should have no problems with the creativity department. But it's just data logistics that you have to worry about... Like repointing levels to new space, etc...

But as far as youtube vids go, when you get the embed code, you have to check the option that says "Use old embed code" for it to work here. Strange, I know, but whatever.
