Wild renaming of threads makes tracking a thread more difficult; if you accessed a thread once, you might later encounter difficulties to rediscover it if it was renamed.

Also, there is the whole thing about creating a possibility to write heck-knows-what into one of the topmost parts of the board's navigation and being able to change it back without leaving a trace. I see very few legitimate uses for it that couldn't be answered with "just PM a mod" - which also has the positive effect of adding a certain amount of required effort to it that prevents threads from changing titles all the time, as a source of annoyance and chaos, or whimsical changes in general - and lots of opportunities for hard-to-pin-down mischief.

Not that I'm completely opposed, but I don't see it as quite worth it.

I like how you see the board userbase as so utterly irresponsible that they'd abuse said title renaming function rather than doing useful things with it like every single other forum system out there.

Well, some of them can kinda abuse the whole "posting" system, but that generally clears itself up

And BH, you actually think that someone would constantly change a thread title rather than just use editthread.php for when they just genuinely change the thread name? Staff can still find the really bad threads and such, due to their having recent posts and being near the top of the thread lists, and trash them. And, if someone really makes a problem out of renaming their thread, the solution would be as simple as a temp-ban, or even a perma-ban if they keep trolling (or whatever you wanna call it).

Bukky is right.

Anyway bh89, by your logic, people shouldn't be given the privilege to post anything at all, since they could post bad things, thus abusing that feature Maybe you should reserve newreply.php to powerlevel 1 and above

Echoing the discontent here. It's a bit ridiculous to say "Oh, people would be stupid if this feature was put in."

The amount of people who would be stupid with it (and even then I would only see this happening in spatula where it wouldn't really matter anyway) is much lower than the people who would be sensible about it. It's nice for typos / not needing to make a new thread for a question on the same subject / just updating in general.

Why is somebody going to waste their time changing their own thread titles to something crappy? Come on. So when will this thing be implemented?

Probably never.

It'll be done when I get around to it. It's not like we spend our every waking moment working on the board, and there's a backlog of stuff as it is. Now try being patient.

I've taken the liberty of implementing this. Note that misuse of the privilege will result in its removal for the offending user.

Awesome! Thank you!! This looks pretty good.

EDIT: I was thinking of an interface, something like when you first make a thread. All I'm thinking of is Icons, etc. But what is currently done looks good too. Once I type in my title, what do I press?
