I want to import my custom sprites into lazyshell but...it asks me for .dat files

What is a .dat file and how can I save my sprites as them?

Or is there another way to import my sprites?

That's right, .dat stands for data, which means it's a file that contains data...
Noooo? Really?

Well, yes...

It's up to you to find a .dat file with a data structure that the program understands...

The problem with .dat files is that it's too vague, like .bin. We're apparently talking about custom sprites, so whose bright idea was it to use .dat for an extension?

Also, this isn't really the right forum, is it?

I guess this will be locked and/or trashed. To the landfill this thread possibly goes.

Can you spell "backseat moderation"?

Son23: Also, you probably should check the help file for explanations on the sprite importing process and potentially use an editor like YY-CHR that supports the SNES graphics format to create appropriate sprites to find out about the .dats.

The .dat files contain all the properties and values for the sprite data, not the graphics. There are no raw 2bpp, 4bpp or whatever graphics in a .dat file.

To edit the graphics, its probably easier to export them to an image file and edit that image in an external paint program and import the edited image back into it. To do this, right-click the image graphics (in the "IMAGE GRAPHICS" panel in the lower-left part of the sprites editor) and select export and choose what type you want (.bin files are raw 2bpp or 4bpp graphics that are edited in tile editor programs). Likewise, you can import image files or .bin files that have been modified in an external program.

For any other questions regarding importing/exporting images, try right-clicking images in the editor to see if there's an import/export option.

Umm... I think that he was stating the fact that it might see its way into the trash or be locked I don't think that he was telling anyone that it will be locked. Generaly isin't back seat modding more of a direct approch.

Of cource what do I know about backseat modding Its not like he can take it into his own hands though.
If I understand correctly though as the post was rather difficult to understand. He was simply stating the fact that the thread May Or May Not be removed or locked. at least thats what I take on the word "possibly".

Programs by unimaginative authors.

To those people: it helps to know that extensions can be more than three letters.
