PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT! sorry, just had to get that out.
I'm trying to make a hole in a room that, when Link falls through, goes to another room. Simple enough, right? WRONG! I can change the room where Link will fall without a problem. However, HM changes it to whatever room it feels like (room 341, specifically). That's not even a room. It's just gibberish. Link falls into a room of video-game-tilted-shit bliss. When I change it back, I get said message in the topic title. What gives? Just in case there's only enough space on the rom for certain holes, I even removed some holes from other rooms (like Death Mountain caves), and I still get beef. It's really pissing me off. Any help? ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

Hyrule Magic uses a limited amount of space for all the dungeon room headers. You've met the limitation of that space. The only thing you can really do is reduce the amount of information that other headers use. You can do this by using the arrow buttons on the header dialog to get rid of things like extra room destinations via doors (3/4) and such. But you will have to eliminate some data to make room for the data you want to use. ____________________ Zelda Hacking Forum hobbies: delectatio morosa |

Hmmm, and how can I do that, bro? I already removed some room headers from some of the caves in Death Mountain. Was that insufficient or do I have to do it from dungeon room headers? ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

All of the dungeon rooms have a header. In some cases, though, they share headers. By making rooms not share headers, you eat up available space. The only way to get it back is either to 1. make two or more rooms have identical headers or 2. take an existing room and decrease the amount of information shown for it in the header dialog.
As shown in this picture simply click the circled button to reduce the amount of data in a room header by one byte. Once all the edit controls disappear, the header is down to the minimum size of 7 bytes. The max size is 14, with all 5 of the edit controls showing. Basically what is happening is that your room is grabbing data from another room header that immediately follows it in the data. Or it's just corrupt (possible given that we're talking abuot HM here.) ____________________ Zelda Hacking Forum hobbies: delectatio morosa |

Posted by MathOnNapkins Most likely this could be the case. It's ok, though. I just merely worked around it. If it's going to fall into some random room, fuck it. I'm just editing that room to my liking. As long as nothing else gets fucked up, then it's ok . Thanks for the help! ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |
