Anyone else been following these events?
I am, and I really feel, for whatever little that means, for the Iranian people. They deserve freedom, and through one means or another, they will get it; it is inevitable. The government does not permit peaceful reform, so the only course of action at this point is violent reform -- many state policeman have already been killed, at least one protester (Neda) has been killed -- it is a sad fact of life but it must be done. |

For those interested, there is a network called NedaNet in order to help Iranians overcome the Internet censorship that the government is placing upon the people. It contains instructions for setting up a proxy server on whatever server you have to spare; be warned though that you will most likely get death threats, and there is a real possibility of real-life confrontation ... |

Recruiting followers against an enemy of the west, on the conjecture of a rigged election, which is certain to draw sympathy of said west and western-influenced countries, sounds like good strategy to win the seat.
