.... this thing is serious? I find that pretty hard to believe at parts, namely the scissors in the sky and the brown iron taking in ALL the noise >.>

Actually, it's a BBC show made by Peter Serafinowicz (you may recognise him as Pete from Shaun of the Dead) that is meant to parody science educational shorts from the seventies and eighties. I find it very entertaining.

Wait, you honestly considered the possibility of it being serious for longer than a minute?

The similarity to our old educational films is striking, nevertheless.

The depiction of brown iron in this video was somewhat erroneous. Brown iron typically takes in at least 95% of all sound, not exactly 100%. It is an incredible material for sound insulation (on a short-term scale of course) and is now being used in many military applications including stealth planes, which detonate small charges of the substance across the surface of the craft, at timed intervals to eliminate noise.

Also, this is utterly fantastic, and I'm sorry I never saw it sooner.

it is very close to actual old educational films, which kinda fooled me. but namely the experiments with the scissors in the sky told me it was fake... XP

*goes to find more episodes to watch because it was awesome*

Second Season probably would been better if they kinda kept it to the same format as the first season rather than making the 70/80's TV show thing.

Look around you is one of my favorite satire series. But then I do have quite some nostalgia for old educational films so parodies of it is appreciated.
