Okay, I'm running windows vista, and I want to use my Lenovo laptop to hack wireless. The problem is, I can't pickup wifi with kiswin (windows version of kismet) unless I run it as an administrator, but when I do, it just sits there, not responding, making me regret getting Vista. Can anyone help me? Thanx.

Wireless networks that are wep/wpa encrypted!
I figured this was the only place I knew of to ask such a question.

We don't do that sort of hacking here.

Actually, that's not "hacking" at all. It's cracking, and that can get you in serious shit with the law. Stop what you're doing.

But no one will know...
Besides, it's MY wireless network, I'm just not allowed to touch the router.

If you're not allowed to touch the router, you're not allowed to touch the router. Maybe if you have a very good reason, somebody may help.

I mean, touch it PHYSICALLY. I lost my WPA code because of my computer, and now I'm using someone else's open network at a 10% signal to type this. Plus, I have to sit outside on a lawn chair! And an uncomfortable on, at that!
Besides, I know you guys only do ROM HACKING, I used to do it, too. (I know ASM.) But I just wanted to see if anyone knew why KisWin isn't working.

Psych! I don't know shit about this subject. But since this is all legal after all, maybe somebody else can help you.

You seriously should've given a better description in your original post.

You can't format on a "locked" (in-use) partition in Windows.

Does your WLAN adapter support monitor mode at all? And even if it does, there seems to be quite a set of additional constraints for the driver that aren't necessarily supported...

Rather than hack your own router, why not find the reset button on your router (They all have it), press it for 10 seconds, then reconfigure it?

Yeah, any consumer-grade router can be reset to factory by holding the reset button down for long enough. I think it could be anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds to do a full reset.
