Why do people use the word "home" to refer to their parents' house even after they move out?
Sometimes it's force of habit. Sometimes they don't own their place (e.g. they live in a college dorm) or their place doesn't feel like "theirs" yet (partially the case with me because I hate the previous owners' idea of attractive decor and we're not done redoing the house). It can also be shorthand for the home they grew up in.
