I never understood the purpose of "making up" snow days. 99% of the time, snow days just remove one day of pointless, boring review -- where you learn nothing -- from the school calendar.

(At least, that's what they were here. But then again, we're what, 49th in the nation?)

Well, I kinda had a snow day once in college so far. I still was at the lecture, but we didn't do anything. It was just me, the teacher and another pupil. We just talked a bit about stuff not related to the course, and decided that we could as well go back home as it was unlikely that anyone else would come with all the snow.

I would've partied.

Or at least used it as a review session or something.. sheesh.

Studying is for people who have nothing better to do

I only rarely need to study, only when something requires a lot of memorization. Like a science test in high school which consisted of naming 80 different pieces of lab equipment and giving the function of each. This was only about 3 weeks into the class.

Ugh, memorization. I never understood the purpose of that crap... I'd rather see a teaching method that really utilizes the best method: actually using the tools.

Hell, I only know what a bunson burner is because our 7th grade Earth Science teacher lit one

Yeah, I hate memorization as well.

Unfortunatly, it seems like most of the things I need to study on is things I need to recall from memory. >> Not much problem solving...

Kind of, but unlike the ACS, it sucks

If we start the actual ACS, we might want to wait until April 1 so that we have a full month to work with.

Yes, as it is pointless to have an ACS for a partial month, start it on April 1 instead

Except I'm sharing celebrating my birthday that day

So the ACS can't be started on Xkeeper's birthday?

Well, maybe.

Besides, there are other important birthdays on that day.

School retardedness and lulz? Look no further!

Thanks to our amazingly incompetent new Secretary of Edumacation, spring break is a thing of the past! That's right, all we have now is Good Thursday/Friday! Yay! D:

Also, his meat puppet the Governor signed two bills that added an extra period (to add a Research and Investigation class, of all things...) and impose a requirement of 40 hours of community service for high school graduates. Summer doesn't count.

If this affects us current undergraduates, God help us. We'd have to take nine classes (R&I x3), making our interlocking schedule from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

I'd hate to see how those night-schoolers will do. (5:30-10:30 PM now, 5:30PM-1:00AM then )

We'd also have to sacrifice all of our weekends to go to Portal de Amor or visit old/sick people to comply with the 40 hours of community service.

Pending is also a bill that will extend regular school hours from 7:30-4:30 PM, which means another extra period on top of R&I.

At this rate, the Sec probably wants to emulate the Chinese model of education. When will they learn that it's the quality and not the quantity of the courses that matters?

And then they complain about failing standardized test scores and NCLB (which is a fucking retarded law IMHO)

Okay, I'm done ranting now

That's sheer madness. My school day is from 7:35 to 2:30, and that's plenty long enough, thank you very much.

I am so glad I only have 10ish more weeks of high school!!!

...but 7:30 AM-4:30 PM? Ouch.

At my school, community service is a joke. It's easy as hell to get hundreds of hours through NHS nonsense and such. Although I just stuck to the computer restoration for the needy, which was actually productive.
Besides, I'm graduating in July, so I don't really care about all of the people who are going to be affected by this. =P

My school day goes from 07:05 to 14:50, and hopefully I get a half-day schedule in my senior year (they do that to some 12th grade students at my school sometimes...)

You have to get up at 7AM. I laugh at the earliness of your schooling.
