Last week sucked for me at least, it went like this: (starting from 1940 because I missed the first 20 years)
1940: build first train line, short distance between 2 towns (passengers)
1946: attempting to build a second train, only to realize it puts me a whole 100000 in the hole because I'm already at max loan
1959: finally got the second train running almost fully, after (very) slowly building it
1963: I start saving up for 2 airports and a plane (still only got 2 trains and no money)
1967: almost ready ...
1968: here goes the first plane
1973: lol richest player
Then the rest was like having unlimited money

The new one starting today isn't as bad, but it seems I'll have to wait a good dozen years again, as I ran out of money after 2 small airships (not giving much profit) and 2 trains

XK, alot of the stuff I use is actually for TTDpatch, and the GRF authors usually don't have to do anything to do with the openTTD development team. Besides it's not really that hard now... and if they add anything that can make the game harder, it's optional.

Acmlm, heh. Starting off with passenger transport can be a bit risky though as you did, as production can be rather low in the beginning. Most players use industries in the beginning to earn some more money before they bother with passengers. In some games I don't bother at all, apart for aircraft.

Hmm, thinking about making a coop game for next week.

Also is thinking about making a own trainset, though a rather futuristic one. With maybe a additional railway type.

It seems like people might be annoyed that the distribution in the news table is out of date, so let me explain the easiest way to update OpenTTD to the latest nightly.

First, if you don't have any version of OpenTTD at all, you should download the distribution that's in the board header, since that contains the newGRFs we use, and the server is entered into the list already.

Next, since we almost always use the newest nightly when we start a game, go here:
http://www.openttd.org/nightly.php
Download the zip that's for your platform.

Extract the zip OVER the folder where your nightly is, and overwrite everything. You now have the latest nightly, and the files required to join the server.

If you already have the nightly installed, and you need to upgrade to the latest nightly again, just repeat the above step, extracting the nightly zip over your nightly folder. The nightly zips don't overwrite your cfg file, so your settings and such will remain the same.

Ailure most likely won't upgrade the newGRFs. If anything, he'd only update the TTRS, which is available for download here:
http://users.skynet.be/florisjan/ttd/ttrs.html

Also keep in mind that nightlies are bleeding edge. So there might be a few bugs here and there.

Sometimes a lot, sometimes none at all. It depends on the recent development and how many internal changes was made. :p

But that nightly is TOO nightly! You need and nightoldlady!

Don't forget to go hunting for the zip file in the directory and good luck finding it

No offense, but...where's the "fucking" distributable? Even if it is 9MB of useless NewGRFs.
The download's a fail.

Anyway we should be able to finish off the game tonight. Not much time left.

I'm already thinking about next game. I really want to test a coop game. I might make it a challanging map again (or a really easy one, i'm not sure), but I probably start with rather high loans for a faster start. Would be intresting to see how fast a company grows if four-five people are working on it or so.

Can we get a two company coop going, so we can have at least a LITTLE competition going?

Well, it would pretty much lead to 2 VS 2, or 1 VS 3 or 2 VS 3 or something in that manner. Main reason I want to do a coop game is mostly so everyone can use every track that is built, instead of having to use seperate networks for everything <<

New version of the Aviator aircraft set.

I would suggest downloading it as I'm gonna use it for my next game.

The version we use is also r6692. I decided that it wasn't needed to upgrade to the latest today as there were no notable upgrades.

Sorry if this is considered bumping, but I'd like to know what the status of this server is. I'd like to join in as soon as I learn how to play. Also, what custom rules and NewGRFs are you using? I'll probably change things around as I learn to play single-player, and I might forget what they were.

We've been using all the newGRFs listed on this site. And I'm not sure about the server, we haven't held a game for a while so you might be out of luck for now.

I plan to start putting up the server again. I just stopped as I think people in general wanted a break, and I kinda wanted to make my own scenario too.

We use TTRS3 too

And the latest nightly as well.

Really, until Belugas gets NewIndustries implemented, I'm not going to get back into OTTD much. Although much of what has been done this week seems worthwhile, NewIndustries is the big one that I'm looking forward to.

And unless I can get confirmation that Aircraft Restrictions have been lifted, I have no intention of re-joining any new Acmlmboard servers. I may peek in as a spectator once in a while, but I will not play with restrictions in any of the transport fields.

Only reason that I put a restriction on aircraft is because I didn't want the game to turn into a "spam the LARGEST aircraft game", especially with how the economy broke with aircraft going four times faster. :/ However I think this was already fixed for some week ago...

I might put less restrictions on next game I run though. Probably something like 500.

Also, newIndustries is one of those things I'm looking most forward to. Since it makes games way more interesting.
