it gets to the point where nothing really suprises you on the news anymore. Whoopee, someone died, who cares?
It's pretty much like that with me when I watch the news. When there's a homicide, it's always in Oakland or San Francisco. Bah, that's like everyday life down there. A few gunshots here and there, someone getting pierced with a bullet... Big deal. Things really got ridiculous when the homicide count in Oakland went beyond 200 in the past year...

Tabloids however...

Celebrity ones are just completely overdone. But the grayscale tabloids... Those are fun to read. Weekly World News is what I think it's called here...

so you're saving daylight based on a normal person's schedule.

I hate daylight.

I hate the outdoors. ....Well, not EXACTLY. I like the outdoors, but only when I want to experience it. Heck, I'd rather stay in a dark room all day playing games than go outside and play. It's true!

Lol, Xkeeper. I hate watching news, too. I find that it is generally boring, stupid, and just doesn't interest or concern me. I only read it if my mom tells me to, or if I happen to see something that catches my interest. Other than that, I only read the newspaper for the comics. (And for some reason, I can't get enough of the Dear Abby stuff. XD)

I never saw the point in DST. It's just an insignificant date on the calendar made to annoy the heck outta us, to me.

I hate natural light indoors. Especially direct sunlight as my eyes are very sensitive to it and I don't like having to keep my position adjusted just right to avoid sun in my eyes, glare on the computer screen, etc.

My parents are the opposite, and it drives me nuts. I'm always closing shades and they're always opening them.

I love it outdoors. Mainly because I live on a farm and have to work on it a lot, but I also like it cause you can have family get together's and play sports so the whole getting darker later is execellent for me it just don't save time like they say.

I like sunlight. I always try to open my window when I can to smell the fresh air without being outside. Sometimes, I just stand outside and watch things. I don't actually do anything physical at home, though. Just gazing and playing.

Strange. I was expecting something along the lines of "breast".

Hah, reminds me of myself. I often sleep during the day (or early morning), so light is my natural foe.. not to mention I'm often blinded temporarily when I go outside

At least my parents aren't home and my room is dark, or I'd be in for problems.

Heh, it depends on my mood for sunlight. << I noticed that sunlight makes me feel less grumpy sometimes, and I do have huge windows in my room, but I tend to have curtain most of the time in front of them for privacy.

Personally, I think DST wastes more energy than it saves.

...somehow.

Yesterday there was an interview on NPR with a guy that wrote a book about daylight savings time. He explained that while extra daylight will let people leave thier lights off longer, people will take advantage of the extra daylight to get in thier cars and go to town. For that reason, much of the push for DST over its lifetime has been retailers who want people to shop more at the end of the day. Even the confectionary industry wanted DST to be extended beyond October 31st so kids could collect more candy on Halloween and drive candy sales.

Sunlight is just as fun as darkness to me. Why do I find such things entertaining? Beats me. Maybe that's why I'm happy all the time--weather, good or bad, makes me feel good.

As for time, I'll just sleep earlier to make up for it.

I prefer overcast days to sunny days usually, I don't know why. I actually like rain and don't mind being out in it. The worst time for sunny days are in the depths of winter, because the snow isn't gonna melt when its that cold and the sunlight just reflects off the snow and fries my eyeballs. The best time for sun is the end of winter/early spring when it melts the remaining snow (until the next freak snowstorm, that is; weather around here seems to be run by some kind of random-number generator).

So the time change happened just now, but the server time wasn't affected ... most of us will have to set the timezone ahead by a hour here as well

Unless you set it back an hour (and fix it if the server changes times later ).

Anyway, this just messes up my already messed up sleep schedule (I slept from 6am to 6pm yesterday ). Doesn't help any in trying to get to classes on time...

That's because the server is in Germany, which hasn't started DST yet. Kind of a pain for Americans and Canadians, but what else would you expect them to do? Arbitrarily use the DST settings of some place halfway around the world?

I lost an hour of sleep last night.

But at least now I can look forward to the time when we turn our clocks back the other way and gain an hour.

This is a real pain, M$ have realised a patch for the new DLS for Windows Server and client OSes. They have also made a utility for the applications such as outlook to convert all the dates on the fly. My work, although based in the UK, does have a US office and so we have to patch stuff just because the US government wanted to make some more money and brought forward DSL.

I just turned off the automatic adjustment for DST and changed the time on the computer manually.

This is why I have a black curtain nailed over my window.

*shrug* Took me 2 minutes to update XP. At least the patch is under a meg in size.

I'd just go nuts adjusting the time manually for a few weeks.

But you only have to change it once (per computer). I guess I just don't mind setting the time manually, as I usually set the rest of the clocks the previous evening anyway.
