Main Site

So apparently this game has been in the works for years now, and about all that's left to be done is your standard-fare RTS material (graphics, sound, storyline, etc). What makes this such a different game from most RTSes is that it's not an RTS at all - it's an MTS (short for Meta-Time Strategy) game.

Derived from "Achronological", Achron is a strategy game where players have the ability to revisit the game's past, effectively rewriting the timeline of their game (to a limited degree). The three demo videos on the main site show this rather interestingly, as does the "The Strategies" Blog entry further down the main page.

Needless to say, I'm going to buy this when it comes out

...this looks really confusing. I'm bad enough at real-time strategy games, but meta-time strategy games?

I doubt that this will be as confusing as everybody thinks it is, but it definitely looks like it's a step above standard RTSes in terms of the needed brainpower.

Also, I initially misread the topic title as "Archon," which is a completely different strategy game.

Actually seems understandable for me, even if they kinda had to cheat in some ways... probably to make it manageable.

Timetravelling in videogames is something I always thought on. If you make the world determinable and records the events as they go along... I guess you can easily add time travel into a game.

Very interesting concept, I like it. Using time to assist in battle adds a very unique twist to the game and puts in more strategy having to account for time manipulation. It may take away simplicity, but I never really thought of RTS games as simple affairs anyway. Maybe this will be the future of RTS.

I like how they resolve paradoxes.

I can't remember playing many RTSes but this looks really neat and I think I'd like it. Just very confusing. I can't think about time travel for extended periods without confusing myself.

This is bound to confuse the bloody hell outta me, but I'll still play it. Looks fun enough. It'll be awesome messing with paradox's, too.

I don't think it's as confusing as it sounds, you just need to get... used to the way of thinking I guess.

Agreed. At first I thought "Woah.... wtf? I'd never be able to manage this!!"

but after watching some of the videos, it seems much easier to understand than it first lets on. I can't wait for the game, myself!

Holy shit, they can solve the grandfather paradox.

Well, sorta. Looks like time itself kludges around it, rather than deal with it.

Still, this is going to be awesome...

EDIT: Did I mention...
